You wanted my take on Bowsette (I know, nobody asked)... Well, here it is!If you, like me, hate meme culture and/or had up to here with this nonsense, then PLEASE SHARE TO EVERYBODY YOU KNOW! Let everybody know: Bowsette shouldn't, and in fact doesn't exist!!!
I know I never ask people to share my stuff, but this time it's important, it's for a good cause!!!!!!!!!!!
(btw in the image IΒ didn't mention the name thing because everybody already pointed it out: the name Bowsette doesn't make sense, since it uses the "-ette" part of Peachette's name which actually comes from Toadette; as a result, while "Bowsette" obviously sounds like "female Bowser", it features only part of Toadette's name, and nothing from Peach's name!)

Four years ago, I made a comic where Mario transform into Peach with her crown. Nobody jumped on it.
The first time I discorver this mess of a meme, I redesign Bowsette as Peachser, with androgyne look, japanese inspired and a Super Crown subtitue, as Toadette's doesn't work on him. By that logic (to my canon), If Bowser can use her Crown, he will turn into Peachser. Of course, Power-ups follows the same priorities as shows with the cat bell and raccoon leaf (main Reason I redesign it, Bowser uses them before).
Because I wanted to make a constructif design with a few people will like, Toadette's Super Crown follow a different priority which enhance the user's value while being a Peach fusion, in Bowser's case, his strenght.

Not to mention that scrapped Mario Odyssey artbook which feature a Bowser/Peach fusion , which it's better than Bowsette as it not only the design mix Bowser's intimidating look with Peach's cute factor but show that Bowser doesn't capturer Peach at random. He capture her to get the speed, agility and floating jump. Mario is facing a foe he never encountered before! Too bad it didn't make to the game⦠This idea was awesome.
It pmake me sad that no one research before⦠This is What hapenned to the original comic. Make me doubt his statue as a fan.

I must say, your points are a bit flawed... First of all, how do you know it works like in Mario 64 DS, in a situation that's actually quite different from that? Second of all, tons of powerups have the mushroom thing, and yet they don't really do anything related to toads, so it would actually make sense for this one to have it too. So, the mushroom part is probably there because it's a powerup, same as a lot of other powerups have. I mean, it does look exactly how a powerup of a crown mushroom would look, right? Look at the cat power up. It doesn't turn you into a cat, it turns you into a cat suit version of whichever character you're playing. And it's shaped like a mushroom. Same story with this one. Oh, and don't use the excuse it matches the color of Toadette. Obviously it's gonna match the color of some toads, might as well make it the one that uses it in the game, right? Again, the catsuit powerup. When mario uses it, he becomes the same color as the powerup itself, but everyone else has different color catsuits.Β
And don't you think you're wording it a bit harshly? "Bowsette shouldn't, and in fact doesn't exist!!!" Well yeah, first of all, it's a fan made character. It doesn't exist in mario canon, and it's just for fun. Obviously a fan made character, especially one like this, doesn't have to even make sense in canon, it's made for fun and, well, porn. Second, while yes you can have your own opinion, going around saying that other people should not be allowed to do what they want is just outright beinga terrible person. Don't even think about saying "Oh, but it's just my opinion!" because that's just dumb. You can have your opinion yes, but don't you think you should phrase it in more of a "this is my opinion, what do you think?" or "this is my opinion, what's yours?" type of way, rather than "this is my opinion, everyone should have it."Β
And one other minor thing, not much but maybe you shouldve credited the artist of that image you used too?

Well, yeah, I have nothing against gender bends. But every one of my drawings comes from a deep study and understanding of the character. I don't just draw my version of them, I make sure to transition them into an alternate version that answers the question "what if those characters were designed the opposite sex?"
In doing the transition I have to keep the costumes true enough to the original one to maintain their essence, while making them different enough to be interesting, and I have to make sure not to lose plot-relevant items from their outfits while redesigning them.
Also the gender swapped story still needs to make sense: If I turn Johnny Cage into a woman and Sonya Blade into a man, they still need to hook up and have a child: what in the original story is Cassie Cage, while my version will be a boy... you no longer have Quan Chi as a sorcerer with three female assassins, you have a sorceress with three male assassins... you no longer have Emperor Shao Kahn with two daughters, but an Empress with two sons.
It all changes around, but it still needs to make sense and follow a consequential logic.
Every drawing is not just a showcase of my skills applied to a random popular trend, it's a work of thought and imagination, trying to offer something original that was not offered by others, as well as a very honest homage to the source material.
Bottom line, it's the other way around: since gender bends are kinda my thing, I AM the one to talk. You're the one not to talk, since you do dragons and dinosaurs or something.

An Emperess with two sons is a different thing than an Emperor with two daughters, so I have to make it believable, I have to explain how it works. Also with the names: some I can leave unchanged, like Kabal or Ermac, others need to be changed, so I have to come up with something that works, like for Jacqui (Jaqueline) I had to come up with an equivalent name, so I chose Jackie (Jack) since it sounds basically the same.
...but in all seriousness, it's not like I wanna make it a big deal. If you wanna see it as just changing the gender, then yeah, that's what it is, the rest is just unrelevant details. The point I'm trying to make is that my work is not just drawing fanart, I'm trying to make it worth by giving it some thought and making it unique. As I explained in some other comment, at first I just wanted to make fanart in order to keep my hand trained, but just drawing MK characters felt unworthy: what value does a Quan Chi drawing have if there already are thousands of (better) Quan Chi drawings? I had to do something at least slightly different! So I drew a female version of him! And then female Kung Lao, and so on. I know some people have already done stuff like that before, but I think I had something unique to offer by making the most legit swaps as possible: there already were many "slutty Kung Lao" drawings around, but Kung Lao is a shaolin monk! If he really was a female she wouldn't be "slutty"! So that's what the purpose of my work is!
And that's what I hate about these Bowsette artworks, they have no purpose, they're just the same character again, and again and again without any thought!

Just because someone else draws something doesn't mean that you can't draw that thing ever again - what's important is that you are the one who draws it, did your own personal touch. Art doesn't need a purpose - what matters is that you are satisfied with the end result.

...Except they aren't. Pretty much all of them are the artists' own unique takes on the character, or doing the process to other Mario characters and creatures, or even expanding to other franchises.
You've deluded yourself into thinking that you're special and unique because you think that you're the first one to do a genderswapped universe.

I never thought I was the first one to do that (except maybe for some very minor obscure character), but I thought I could create the most accurate one thanks to my deep knowledge of the MK lore. Either way it's still better than just doing regular versions! Maybe you can never create something completely original out of fanart, but the more original the better. You gotta find a compromise between doing something nobody else has ever done before (basically impossible) and just doing the very same thing that every other soul on Earth has done (like Bowsette).
I know just doing your personal take on a character is fine, there's nothing wrong with that, but what I'm complaining about is the overblown attention this Bowsette thing got, while the basic subject made no sense.

If you do what EVERYBODY ELSE does, than yes, you're automatically unoriginal scum. If, like you said, "nobody" did that, than it would be something original to do.
Come on don't act like you don't know what I mean, it's okay to do whatever you want, but the more original it is, the more praise it should deserve.
About the second point heck yeah if I get it. I obviously do get the appeal of gender swaps, and in my own drawings you can see the amount of favourites is directly proportional to how much sexualized the character is. (though I try to never oversexualize them, their sex appeal is based on the character's original sex appeal and the style of MK character design in general)
But if this was just a sexy gender swapped Bowser there wouldn't be a problem, the problem is with the excuse for its existance: the crown.
It would be as if I wanted to make a sexy catgirl Goku, and instead of just drawing sexy "Gokuette" I explained that Goku ate too many senzu beans and that caused him to grow boobs and cat ears. That makes no sense! I'm okay with the concept of a transformed character, but don't try to legitimize it with an explanation that's completely un-legitimate!

The Super Crown is a totally new thing in the franchise; all that we know about it is that it turns a Toadette into a Peach lookalike. Someone made a joke saying "Okay, but what if it has that same effect on every character... like what if Bowser used it?" and people ran with the concept. There's no precedent for something like this in Mario - so there's that whole "it makes no sense" argument shot and dumped into a ditch. You're the only one here who's getting pissy because of the crown's design, and even then various artists have actually customized the crown's appearance to match the wearer.
However, the fact that you actually used 'un-legitimate' kinda tells me that you're likely not the brightest...
