Description "You know, Charla..."

"Yeah, Nigel?"

"I've been thinking."

"Did you hurt yourself?"

"Har har. I've been doing some reading on my family history, partially out of hope to see why my family is so insistent to stay with tradition of Gallades being the rare and valuable members of the family to the point that males who become Gardevoir themselves are seen as less than rubbish...and I discovered something rather interesting.

Apparently our family, the Garkirls, had existed for centuries. We had been entrusted to be protectors of a kingdom that was struggling to fight off invaders who were using every type of Pokemon to fight against us, especially Dragon-types. For the longest time, I was led to believe Gallades were the fighters while the Gardevoir women would be the ones to do the healing."

"I think I heard of this, yes."

"That's what most everyone in Hoenn knows, really. But the truth is that's only half right: Rather than just be support units, many Gardevoir were actually seen as secret weapons in charge of besting Dragon-types that got too close. In fact, one of my most famous Garkirls was one who managed to best a Giratina single-handed. My family had made me believe this whole time that it was a Gallade who did it and that he's the sole reason why Gallades are so valuable.

...But now I wonder if, perhaps, he was actually a male Gardevoi and my family, since even that far back, had vowed to cover that up for some reason? I'd explain a few things...though, sadly, it also brings up more questions. In any case, this has led me to realize something.

"That your family is nuts?"

"That, and...well. I don't hate my predicament anymore. I don't hate being a Gardevoir. Why should I, when even history tells me that we're far stronger and far less frail than what the world may make of us."

"That and you can beat up dragons."

"That, too."

------------------------------

So as you can see, I am okay with half-Fairy Gardevoir. And so is Nigel

I like how it deals with some of the gender issues our times are going trough the manipulation of history etc., specially PR, with pokemon none the less haha, cool.

Thanks. It's something I've been playing with with this particular character for a while - a young male Gardevoir struggling between what his extended family/the world expects of him and how he sees himself. It's not been an easy battle, but he's had the support of his closest friends and family to keep him afloat, as well as his own stubbornness to allow himself to get pushed around and be treated as a weakling just for being what he is.

I won't say it's a unique idea, but it's one people seem to like, so who am I to complain over something like that? Anyway, like I said, thanks
