amazing! almost 52 years of wall crawling and web-slinging. i am a huuuuuge spider-man fanboy (check my acutal DA-ID and you get an idea) and i thought it might be time for a proper piece, its been a while since i did my last spidey drawing and his birthday is right around the corner, so here you have it. did this for fun, and damn, it was fun! going to have this baby on my wall soon, at least in din a2.

there are three versions: clean artwork version, the "oldschool variant cover" (the lettering i grow up with) and the "modern" one.

for more info, detail-shots and a small wip history check out my blog (www.kopfstoff.blogspot.com)

PS: i am going to upload this one on society6 i think, tell me if you guys want printzzz!

Daily Deviation:

What better thing then a daily deviation could there be for the start of 2015?
this is my first one two! i am speechless that my old friend and companion spider-man managed to archieve
what none of my other illustrations on my profile could do...

so glad, smiling like that cheshire cat right now,
probably for the next few days!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! for all the love, likes and comments! overwhelming - i mean it!
especially Minato-Kushina and Lyricanna , you just made my day!

yeah, almost completely - the hammond spider-man is the most
realistic and believable one in my eyes. loev that suit. good old days

I never watched the show, but I saw the movie and thought it was pretty good for its time. The lenses are the best part, in my opinion.

well, the movie actually is the pilot for the show - i saw the big three
movies... so bad that the show/the movies never had been officially
released on blu-ray or dvd. :/

yeah, loved the eyes too! it's just so believable that its actually a
selfmade teen/student costume... it's pathetic how the hollywood
guys behind the new releases claim, that the costume of their sidey
looks self-made. they should rewatch what they nailed over 30
years ago.

While I DO have trouble believing that Peter in the Sam Raimi movies made his suit 'cause it's so high-quality, I don't have any trouble believing that he made his suit in the reboot, Amazing Spider-Man. The shoes were Asics hot-glued onto the bottom, and the costume was kinda sloppy in some places, and took great influence from the Sensational Ben Reilly Spidey suit. When the second movie came around, they came out with a digital comic that showed his first costume was shredded in a wind turbine. So Gwen made him a new suit that took a lot of inspiration from the old Ultimate comics, excluding the spider, which was unique to the movie. So I can believe that Gwen made his second suit, probably using some Oscorp technology to help mend it. All the Spidey suits have been great in each movie, even SM3's unique take on the Black Suit, even though I hated the rest of the movie.

yeah, well i do have a problem with all the modern suits.
i understand all the reasons, the movie industries comes up
with in terms of how a translation from the comic-medium
into the movie-medium has to be made to make it work...

but i think a spider-man suit shouldn't look like the one
from (multi-million-dollar-guy bruce wayne) batman or the avengers.
you always have the dull plastic suit look, with honeycomb pattern
and muscles on top of it, instead of beeing normal fabric...
actually allmost all comic-heros in movies look like the costumes
had been made by one particular dressmaker. anyway, i enjoyed
the spidersuit in amazing spiderman 2, since i just could have
a break about the question if the suit looks selfmade or not
because he just looked like right out of the comics. and the
movement/swinging was onpoint.

regrding costumes/raimi and unique designs... have you seen
the green goblin (for real) mask design, they scrapped? --->

www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEZBhL…

looooooved that one. so much better then the "helmet" imho.

MichaelLakeOfficial In reply to kopfstoff [2015-01-04 21:03:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I saw it on the extras of the first Raimi movie DVD. It's pretty cool, but I still like what we got.Β

www.comicbookmovie.com/fansite…

^That article was released yesterday on what stuff was scrapped for Raimi's first one. There's this one design for GG that I really like. I think it's the fourth picture or so down, where instead of taking his helmet off and just his eyes opening up, it's his hole mask that opens up to reveal his face. And instead of just a point at the end of his head, it's longer and is purple, giving it a sort of comic feel, but as a unique alternate design. When I showed it to my girlfriend, she said she wanted to slap Raimi 'cause she really likes that one. Just imagine how different of a movie it would have been if the design was different.

yeah you'Re right, well at a production like that, there are
sooo many people making decissions and working on different
segments, it's hard to tell, its raimi's fault, that some strange
decissions had been made for that trilogy...

anyway, dafoe was the perfect cast! he looks so goblin like,
even without mask!

its an american donut, dude... probably enough sugar and fat in it
to make it nearly impossible to drop (way to heavy), even on a windy
height like that.

why the name is "one on one" ???

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

kopfstoff In reply to ultimatesol [2015-01-03 03:32:00 +0000 UTC]

because its an imaginary cover for the new number one
that came out by the time a draw this one. spidey is reading
his original first apperiance -> one on one.

i think i mentioned it in the description too.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact he's reading the comic of his own origin? Not entirely sure, though. Nice pic, btw!
