I always wondered why she believed in Mami, considering how the series went through so much trouble to emphasize on the distrust and suspicion between the two of them.

That movie was the worst thing to happen to the series! There was So Many Reasons why that movie was the worst thing to happen to the series, and not just the ending!
The majority of that movie was nothing but badly done Fan Response full of plot holes too big to gloss over, continuity errors, unexplained stuff, and more. Not just the ending, but the rest of the movie too!
There was so many things that made that movie terrible.
Like that part of Sayaka summoning her Witch Form, Oktavia Von Seckendorff, but as a separate being to help her fight. THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT!!!!
Or that Goddamn Nagisa, who was annoying and was obviously just tacked on for no reason other than the fact that Charlotte is such a popular Witch. Not to mention, she looks NOTHING like how the Silhouettes in the anime showed Charlotte's former self to look like.
The silhouettes in the anime showed that Charlotte's Former self was SUPPOSED TO look like the one on the far right here! (the one with the Candy Staff) --> images.puella-magi.net/f/f4/36…
Also, she can just change into her Witch Form, Charlotte, and back whenever she feels like it. Like what Sayaka did, THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT!!! Plus, they changed her appearance to give her a weirder-looking face, and they now call her "Bebe" for some reason. What The Hell?
Or Homura's Witch Form being changed for no reason. The PSP game showed that Homura's Witch form is SUPPOSED to look like This! --> img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20…
Not only that, but how the hell can Charlotte (or Bebe or whatever), Homulily, Oktavia, and the others still be there, after Goddess Madoka erased all Witches from existence? The movie is already screwing up so much there!
Plus, so much stuff that was obviously done just to get the fans to be happy and shut up.
Like that part where Hitomi is turned into a Nightmare Monster. That part just Screams "it was done just to make all the fans happy because Hitomi gets what she deserves for stealing Kyousuke from Sayaka and being a jerk!"
Or the fact that Sayaka is now alive again, she now has Kyousuke as a boyfriend, and his hands are completely healed. Obviously that was done just to make all the fans happy that she gets her boyfriend now, even though it contradicts so many things!
That movie was the worst thing to happen to the series, and it wasn't even necessary, since it was an unneeded sequel!

Oh man, I hated that movie so much. It was one of the worst things to happen in the series, and the series could've been so much better without it.
Thankfully though, it didn't completely destroy my respect for the series, and it wasn't nearly as bad as things such as The Ending to Mass Effect, or Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, or anything like that, but still, this movie was one of the most terrible things for Madoka Magica.
