Omgaaawsssh I love how you pick up on all these tiny moments and how your mind works. (Gaara fell on top of the gourd! I love this idea, so cute. I think it must happen a few times too, that thing just looks so heavy!)
Latching up. Naruto locks himself out of his house. <--- most creative idea ever. Batching up. Gaara bakes so many cakes his entire house is filled up with them. <--- also mega creative. Hatching up. Naruto and Gaara adopt loads of chickens.

BTW, have you seen the last few episodes of naruto about the second chunin exams?
I am kinda wondering, are those fillers or not?
At the end of the battle Naruto and Sasuke where dying and they hinted that orochimaru would save Sasuke and that Gaara would save Naruto some way that Kurama knew was possible.
Is it that Gaara is going to the sand devil's nest because they can save him there?

I haven't seen the latest episode at the moment, but yes, they're filler. Quite good filler, too. I'd been wondering when someone besides fanficcers was going to tackle that chuunin exam, it was just mentioned at the beginning of Shippuuden and then... nothing, lol. Though I understand there were a lot of other things to cover, too. Maybe the anime team waited until the manga canon finished, even, so as to not create too many plot holes with things still to be revealed.
As there's now a limited amount of the main plot to work with anymore, I think they're going to try to stretch the anime out with stuff they hadn't touched before for as long as they can, hence the sudden interlude(s?).
Well... I know what's going to happen because I've read the manga, so, not going to spoil you if you haven't. Sorry. :)
