well if I can get my hands on the model I can throw in a delux rig and skin job in Maya.

Props on the model to the artists (ill need to see the verts and edges to see what the movement issues are if any)

I find it a tad disturbing she wear clothes except where it is most important, but it turns out she doesn't got anything to cover there anyway...

(i guess this isn't too much an issue on most cartoons 'cause they aren't as realistic as this looks)

Hi, I'm going to start a site sharing models and animations to teach people to use blender, at ersatzanime.com I'd like to rig this model and post it under creative commons if you'll give me permission

(creative commons attribution, so the credit would be yours of course)

Thanks for letting me use the model and sorry for the delay in answering. I've rigged Katt and posted it for download at [link]

I plan on posting many more models and animations for them using the shared rigging system.

Whoa, this is awesome! Katt from BoF2 was awesome, definitely my favorite character from the game. She was so much of a tomboy that she didn't even wear pants!

But seriously, this is a great job on rendering her in 3D. It looks perfect! Simply perfect!

You're welcome

No, i have not rigged the model - the poses were made in Zbrush with the transpose tool.

i just got zbrush and id like to know where to start the modelling from the zsphere or something else?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KP-ShadowSquirrel In reply to terinoshi [2011-06-08 17:14:21 +0000 UTC]

hi, that depends on what you want to model. but i guess that zspheres are a good way to start.

there is a "getting started in zbrush" tutorial here [link]

terinoshi In reply to KP-ShadowSquirrel [2011-06-09 03:37:54 +0000 UTC]

ahh thanks and do u by any chance kno wut retopologize means >< also i finished doing a zsphere sketch for my griffon and i added the skin and shaped it a bit am i sopposed to "retopologize" it or something im using this tut [link] for the head of the griffon but its confusing me kinda feels complicated @.@ and ONE more thing lol i made the skin with adaptive skin and for the beak i had to weld it to the head cuz i messed it up will i still be able to open and close the beak and animate the entire griffon sorry for the long question lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KP-ShadowSquirrel In reply to terinoshi [2011-06-09 17:22:55 +0000 UTC]

the topology is how the "web-structure" ( topology ) of the mesh is layed out. ( where the points (vertices) are and how they are connected (edges) )

if you are just modeling it is not that important - it becomes important when the mesh is going to be animated.

retopologizing is the process of changeing the web-structure of the mesh.

terinoshi In reply to KP-ShadowSquirrel [2011-06-09 20:34:08 +0000 UTC]

ohhh tyvm so if i want to open and close the mouth i have to retopologize it and seperate the top and bottom beak from eachother but keep it connected to the face so it can move?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KP-ShadowSquirrel In reply to terinoshi [2011-06-10 14:43:58 +0000 UTC]

yes, that would be best.

to do this you could also use a different software that is better for this kind of modeling ( like blender or maya) if you export your mesh out of zbrush ( as obj file ) and import it into blender you can change just a few vertices and edges without retopologizing everything.

then import it back to zbrush into your previous model and it will update all the higher resolution detail onto the new/modified mesh.

oo ty i heard blender is free and pretty good so its for modelling right? i wanna make the griffon have 3 diff animations one is walking, screeching/roaring/flying (havent decided yet) and the last one should be laying down and tyvm for your help!

I have a turntable I want to post but it wont let me load it in. So I figure Flash is the only way to go, but I have no clue how to do it. I ended up with an MPEG-4 and It wont load into DA either. Could you give me any tips?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KP-ShadowSquirrel In reply to ShadowMetal [2011-05-07 08:11:18 +0000 UTC]

hi, if you have flash then a simple way to do is this:

(this was written for flash cs5 so things MAY be a little different on other versions)

1. save/export/convert your video in FLV format.

2. make a new flash file ( file > new )and choose actionscript 2.0

3. import your video (file > import > import video ) and choose PLACE ON STAGE and EMBED IT INTO THE TIMELINE

3.5 set the stage size to the resolution of your video

4. create a new layer in the timeline, select the first frame and insert this actionscript:

on (complete) {
this.autoRewind = true;
this.play();
}

5. export ( file > export > export movie )

that should give you a swf file that can be uploaded here

ShadowMetal In reply to KP-ShadowSquirrel [2011-05-07 21:35:53 +0000 UTC]

Sorry Im a bit confused. The only turntable save options I can find are mov. and zmv. How are you converting to flv?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KP-ShadowSquirrel In reply to ShadowMetal [2011-05-07 22:04:53 +0000 UTC]

i use the turntable plus plugin for zbrush. with it you can export single frames of a turntable. then i use aftereffects to create the flv file.

but it is possible to import mov files into flash, too.

You've modeled Katt rather well in 3d, bet she'd also make for a nice companion in Fallout New Vegas using the spear and lance type weapons.
