all the models are really well done and cartoon acurete, but... that lip when its see directly from the front, looks a little weird, but its just not the normal situation, i like them any way

Now imagine if we could get her to move and talk. This is how a CG episode/movie of Friendship is Magic should be done. SO awesome.

Good work, but maybe the specular highlight of the eye should actually react like you know specular. And perhaps you should be able to drag the thing sideways like you can in fcheck would be kinda cool.

KP-ShadowSquirrel In reply to joojaa [2011-07-08 06:43:33 +0000 UTC]

hi, thanks.

yes, moving specs on the eyes would be nice but with the way the cartoony eyes are made, it would require a lot of work to make it look right in zbrush.

the drag control is a good idea, but i'm afraid that i would have to spend days trying to figure out how to do that in flash. i'm glad that i was able to puzzle together the current actionscript functions...

joojaa In reply to KP-ShadowSquirrel [2011-07-08 08:16:39 +0000 UTC]

Well yes in zbrush, but not in maya. What you do is you dont paint the central highlight at all then use a sphere around the eye thats visible in reflections to the eye shader and paint the specular hit there so it hots where you want. Repeat for next highlight etc etc. Not really hard but a bit of work. I can pm a demo if you wish.

As for the drag i think you will find it with googling a bit.

KP-ShadowSquirrel In reply to joojaa [2011-07-08 16:39:12 +0000 UTC]

i prefer to render turntables in zbrush. it's faster and i don't have any trouble with displacement and normal maps ( seams - oh the horror... )

i found a few guides to drag-controlling, but implementing them into the flash setup that i already have...

joojaa In reply to KP-ShadowSquirrel [2011-07-08 18:02:10 +0000 UTC]

You dot get problems with seams if you shoose a method that actually subdivides the same way your zbrush has subdivided the model

heres something for the drag, assuming you have a movie clip with the animation and the instance name of that clip is clip, adjust sensitivity to suit your needs. Then it would look like as follows (not best possible code but...):

clip.stop();
clip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, ClickToDrag);
clip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, StopDrag);

var dist;
var postionLast;
var sensitivty = 5;

function ClickToDrag(event:MouseEvent):void
{
postionLast = event.target.mouseX;
clip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, moveMouse);
}

function StopDrag(event:MouseEvent):void
{
clip.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, moveMouse);
}

function moveMouse(event:MouseEvent):void
{
dist = event.target.mouseX - postionLast;
if (Math.abs(dist) > sensitivty ){
var time;
time = (clip.currentFrame + int(dist/sensitivty) )% clip.totalFrames;
if (time < 1)
time = clip.totalFrames + time;
clip.gotoAndStop(time);
postionLast = event.target.mouseX;
}
}

I still can't quite place what it is about these that confuses me so much. Is it the mouths? The eyes? Maybe it's the neck ratio. I don't know, something is up about these.

KP-ShadowSquirrel In reply to Kujiiro [2011-07-07 06:27:41 +0000 UTC]

if you are refering to the missing outline - that's because of the way it is made by the shader. it created too many outlines within the face and it was too troublesome to remove them all in aftereffects. so i just left the outline out for now. ( but i think to have found a solution to fix this - we'll see if it works later )

*Squeeee!* Finally, my favorite pony! Very beautiful. The hair kinda looks like extruded Playdough, though. Oh well, it's still gorgeous! Hmm, you even combed her mane off to the left! As far as I can tell, that's the side it's most commonly on! (I have an almost creepy obsession with Twilight).

I don't see a "all in one" .obj file like in the other models, could I trouble you to make it?

Sorry to be a pain but I just downloaded it again, and I don't see it. The file size of the zip is slightly bigger so it was updated, but it still doesn't have it.
