Well, last year my house got hit hard on May 4th by a tornado, I am still doing repairs.....Today, a tornado almost touched down about 4 miles from me. I managed to take a few quick digital shots of it.
It was really cool how a funnel would begin to come down, then get sucked back up. I wish this could show that better...

I believe this is a scud cloud because there doesn't appear to be much rotation, but still really cool.

There was significant rotation, and news coverage because of it....unfortunately...one photo can show neither....lol

Wow, I woulda totally been freaking out but still mesmerized if I saw this just down the street from me. I'm sure my mom would be the first one out with the camera, she's always on about how she'd love to go out to america and chase some tornados XDD

Looks to me like it could be a EF4 or F3 tornado to me. I am not sure.

You can't really tell by size. Honestly, it's the wind speed and destruction they measure them by, not the size.
But kudos on the shot, I would have been scared to death!

Oh, I'd say you did a pretty darn good job of catching the mood of an ominous and very obviously rotating wall cloud. Visible funnel or not.

Wow! I'd be pissing myself at that point. I don't know why but that's my greatest fear in the whole world, tornados, and I don't even live in a place that usually gets anything that bad. I mean the sky will turn green and stuff but it never funnels or anything.
The weird thing is that people say that everyone's scared of them until they've had a close encounter, well, I've had a couple close encounters and believe me, I'm still terrified of them. But I've decided to live in Missouri, so that some day I'll die from getting impaled by a 2x4 and then...then I won't be frightened anymore...(I'll also be dead but hey, the ends justify the means right?)

they still freak me out some...but they fascinate me as well....so I took the class on storm spotting, and may even go on a tour with some experienced professionals...

This is an awesome shot! I'd kill (well, not really) to get a shot like this. I love storms...and grew up in part of Tornado Alley (NE Alabama). I'm actually a bit partial to tornadic storms..they're so intense, and you captured that so well here! VERY nice!!!

I absolutely love a good storm. Always have, even as a child (unless lighting blows up a transformer right outside my window..lol) I should have been a storm chaser. I'd be on the tail of some wild ones, I'm sure.
