Yes! I think he's a precious skeleton dad that happened to fall into the core. There's a lot of comics I see that portray him as some jerk who treated sans and papyrus poorly but I can't see him like that. He's like the guy that would bring freshly made muffins to work to give to all his coworkers and other scientists. But ye he can be scary. He's great. I love.

The genus of Gaster is that he is so unusual and unknown that if Toby makes a sequal/prequel/hard mode, the he could look at what the fans want and either give it to them or subvert their expectations. The best thing would be to slowly reveal more info, but not enough to shatter the mystery.
