TRANSFORMERS: IGNITION - Optimus Prime (Robot Mode)Turnaround of the design of Optimus Prime's robot mode. I figured everyone would like a better look at him since you only get to see his back view in the teaser poster.
You'll notice that the arm blades he has in the poster are collapsed and folded up into his arms to be a bit more compact. The arm design was inspired by the TF:Classics toy of Optimus from a few years back (2006 maybe?)
He does have a rifle, but I haven't finished designing it yet.
His faceplate does NOT retract. I have nothing against Primes having retractable faceplates (and after the "Let's find out" moment near the end of Dark of the Moon, it's TOTALLY awesome) but I'm going for a bit of a nostaliga bent with this Prime, so his stays on. He does have a face/mouth behind it, but it's kinda like a Judge Dredd thing where it never comes off and you never see his face.
Well, "technically" you dont. You do get to see Ultra Magnus' face and he IS Optimus' twin...

I love the look, is so gorgeous! Its really too bad that when Transformers Animated came out as a series they didn't bother to make the characters look nice. In TFA they just really exaggerated everything.Β Your work is so much nicer.

Thanks, glad you like it! I swear this project isnt dead, 2017 was... bad, lol. I was gearing up for a great latter half of 2017 and then... worse, lol.Β After I wrap up a few owed things (and get organized) I'm going to start pre-production on new stuff for it, and share that here for people to see instead of just waiting a super long time to see new stuff.

So Ultra Magnus is Optimus' twin here...so he's the white and blue variant of him...or does he get his bigger armored form?

He starts out just as a recolour of Prime, but he does get his trailer armor eventually, part of a later storyline, but he will get it

Okay. I kept hearing stories of the whole Dion controversy of who Dion is. Such theories as he became Magnus or Ironhide...The Botcon comics make it so Dion was himself but lead a question of who MAGNUS was at the end with Dion or Magnum dying but really...your story, your rules.

Interesting little look for Prime, still maintains the cardboard aesthetic of G1 but there is a sort of Teen Titansish vibe to the design you chose for him. It really shows, beautiful work.Β
