(Page updated August 5th, 2013)Originally I thought about having the series start out on Earth and then eventually show this stuff on Cybertron as a flashback after the Autobots and humans first meet, but I felt that starting the comic off with the Transformers on Cybertron before coming to Earth would emphasize to the audience that this is the Transformers story, and they are the focus of the story with the humans being supporting cast and not the other way around. Plus, I figured it would be a nice throwback to the original cartoon which also started out on Cybertron before bringing the action to Earth.
The look of the Cybertronian forms of the Seekers is a fusion of elements of the YF-19 Alpha One from Macross Plus and a Core Fighter from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. Notice these Seekers are all a bluey-purple shade, this is the standard colour scheme for "generic" Seekers, and is a reference to the "Decepticon Air Warrior" from the Heroes of Cybertron exclusive toy set at the BotCon convention in 2003 (or whatever the convention was called at that time, I forget, don't yell at me, I'm fragile). "Named" Seekers (Like Starscream, Skywarp, etc) get their own individual colours. The "glowy" parts (more noticable on Bumblebee) are a nod to the Cybertronian forms in the War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron games, but I opted the have the Autobots have blue glowy stuff, and the Decepticons to have red to match their eye colours and not their insignias (the original cartoon tended to be "Autobots = blue eyes, Decepticons = red eyes, which I will be "trying" to stick to as a little nostaligic nod to the original cartoon)
Also, pointing out Bumblebee's first day as an Autobot is to emphasize that in this series, Autobots and Decepticons are not races, but factions. There are in fact "neutral" or "civilian" Transformers on Cybertron in this series.

Wait a minute. The Autobots have red insignias but blue neon? And the Decepticons have purple insignias but red neon? If I make a rude comment about this, AleximusPrime will kill me.

I wanted the glowy parts to match their eyes, like its an overall internal glow. Β Plus red seems more evil, lol. Β Plus plus, with the faction symbols being painted decals instead of glowing I was able to get away with it, lol.Β

I love the alt modes designs. Very much like the designs from War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron (which I love so much). I am particularly fond of the change for the glowing portions of the body to match the eyes. And yay on the use of factions for this series. I much prefer that compared to "races" as well.

that was a sticking point for me, I wanted to go with the whole old school "autobots = blue eyes, decepticons = red" thing, but I thought having the body glows match the eyes (instead of te insignia colours like in the games) would make it feel more like it was all "them" in a way.
Yup, Cybertronian is the race, Autobot and Decepticons are just factions. Β Although you really wont see much of it, there are in fact neutral civilians on the planet that are not part of the war. Β But this is about the Autobot/Decepticon war, so you wont see much of that, lol.

yes, in this series, even though there's not much focus on them, there are factionless, civilian Cybertronians on Cybertron, Autobots and Decepticons aren't races, just factions. Bumblebee was doing courier work as a civilian in some of the cities that had become war-ravaged and was personally asked by Optimus Prime to join him during a "dust up" they got stuck in that will be explained in depth a bit later

By the way, i really like that the autobots have glowing blue parts and the decepticons red bits. I thought it was strange that in WFC they gave the bots red parts and the cons purple.

yeah, I knew they were doing that to match the symbols, but I always thought the glowing parts should match the eyes, especially with red being more of a villain's colour. And I wanted to (mostly) stick with the old school G1 cartoon thing of "autobots = blue eyes, decepticons = red eyes".

Good scene, but it could use some improvement. Personally, I think it would look better if the scene was zoomed out a bit and Bee was farther away from those seekers. That would also make it more plausible, as a fighter jet is most certainly faster than a sports car.

lol, that was a bit of a split decision, I did think about it like that originally, but I ended up making him closer to the camera for a good look at his vehicle mode for his first shot. My "WANT TO SEE UP CLOSE NOW" childish mentality sorta won out, lol
