A little something I had to doodle earlier.A wild red fox (cross) vs. a ranched red fox (marble)
Ranched foxes (reds and arctics) can get huge, sometimes bigger than a coyote.
Kinda neat how domestication can make them double in size in addition to interesting markings/color variations
These two are characterized versions of a couple fox pelts has posted on her taxidermy account...sooo consider this as giftart Kay 8U
Sienna (the cross) and Noelle (the marble) I believe what she had named them

Now have a wolf and Fox meet comparred to each other...it would be quite the interesting size difference.

On Glacier Wear I found fox pelts that measured to be 68 inches and these foxes are from sweden!

Wow, that's very interesting. I knew domesticated foxes tend to be larger than foxes in the wild, like the size of medium-sized dogs. But I didn't know these could be that large. I'm a cross-fox, by the way!

A German taxidermist told me that the ranched foxes just have more skin on their body which make them look so huge. They would not be so huge.
But I think that is not true. I also think that also the body of the foxes is more huge although they are kept in small cages.
I dunno how the size comes, but yeah it is very interesting.
But I also have heard about those super foxes which have pretty much skin on their body and they canΒ΄t carry it all they way and get damages on the legs.
I donΒ΄t know what is actually true now.
I think a farmer could tell it, because he skinnes them, and can see if the body of the ranched foxes really are bigger then the wild foxes.
Or if it is just the skin which is so heavy on them.
I have no clue.

A lot of it is fat. Ranch foxes are very fat animals, because all they do their entire life is eat, sleep and breed. However many ranch foxes actually do get bigger than a typical wild fox, because food is plentiful and very high in essential nutrients.

Ranched foxes are bigger than wild ones? Interesting. I suppose that would explain why the two pelts I bought from Moscow are twice the size of any fox I've seen in western Europe

Ranch foxes are a pain in the but mounting on commercial forms. And they do get coyote sized amazingly. Small coyote though haha

If you look on glacierwear, their blue shadow foxes range between 69-73", which is sorta getting into small wolf territory xD Seems like it's only the ranched artic foxes that are getting to such huge sizes, and the reds getting up to coyote/brush wolf sizes

Yup, or bigger than most coyotes at least. My mutation blue shadow fox is 66" long from tip to tip, which is longer than both of my coyotes (which were considered brush wolves) XD I've seen some platinums around that size too

Wow! lol I've never really gotten to see many ranched foxes in person....and when I did, they were turned into clothes and such, lol. Very interesting what we can do with a little selective breeding, hmm?

I've only seen/been around one in person, but it was years ago. She was somewhat big, but not as big as a coyote lol
