Description
Download for full size! It's hugeRedid my Fox color chart from a little over 5 months ago for my Fox Avatars on Second Life. I included the rest of the colors I had planned, but didn't have room for, from my last one (file got way too big).
It's gonna be a challenge to texture all of these guys, but it will be done!
All of these foxes, except the bottom 4, are actual color mutations of a red fox.
Only the red, cross, silver, grey, and arctic foxes (summer and winter) occur naturally in the wild. All the other fox colors on this chart only occur through selective breeding.

Edit: The "Shadow" fox is actually a ranched mutation of the Arctic fox, so I will be excluding it from my fox av colors due to it looking exactly like the arctic fox, only much bigger.

You can get a domestic fox from the breeders in Russia, but they cost around 7000 dollars. Don't get one from anywhere else, though, since those would most likely be wild-caught foxes which would not make good pets.

It is illegal to catch foxes from the wild and sell them as pets. No reputable breeder does that. I got mine for 500 which is generally the price for non Russian foxes

You misunderstand, these are not wild animals. These non-wild color morphs are found in fully domesticated foxes. They are the result of a Russian breeding experiment originating in the Soviet era. They act like a cross between a cat and a dog.

I one had a silver fox follow me around while I was hiking exploring it, close too, like 20 feet away or less when I sat. I didn't have any food on me, and it never got aggressive, it just seemed, well, curious.

just thought I'd point out to you that they do give credit. After the group of pictures, they post links to all the pages they were taken from. Culpeo-Fox's link is in there, which is actually what brought me here.

These are really cute! Don't they also start looking more dog-like when they're selectively bred? I mean I've seen I think it's that platinum coloration on a fox with a curly tail (like a husky's) and floppy ears.

Yeah, I think you're right. There was an experiment that tried domesticating silver foxes (In Russia I think) & with each generation that grew more domesticated they started having those features.

The 'Shadow' fox is pretty cool! I'd take the Arctic fox if I were in Alaska. They'd be the messiest fox(whenever they shed their Winter coats), but they'd be worth having a companionship with. I mean, I'd think it's okay to take them in as a pet if they were born and raised in captivity or rescued.
