I work with oils in (I hope) the old Flemish and Venetian methods of painting. Its interesting to see the comparisons and differences in applications between digital art, which I have almost no understanding of, and more traditional painting. A really interesting tutorial.

Thank you so much! I'll try to incorporate these tips from here in my artwork from now on! Will let you know how much it helps when I'm done ^_^-
Again, thank you!
[Will you make a tutorial on painting elements too? e.g. water, ice, rain? Oh, clouds would be nice too. I particularly have trouble doing water... I'd love to see how you make them in your work. (Cos your work is just so amazing! <-- I still can't believe you only use glazing technique for them! I still have a lot to learn ]

You have no idea how much this has helped me..
and I can never thank you enough for it.
oh also, I have a doubt, if we choose contrasting colors for our palette, won't it be really hard to blend them?
I always have problem with blending things. D:<<

Blending isn't that difficult, just takes practice. have you tried a lower flow setting? And a spackled brush?
Maybe this tutorial helps: [link]

I've been doing something similar in my work for a long time, but I never quite knew how to explain it when someone asked about color. I'll be sure to point them to you next time, awesome explanations.

Awesome! I have not had the opportunity to draw a dark skinned portrait. I take that back. I did draw Snoop Dogg. But I used felt tip pens for a rough gritty look. Not soft tones like your sample.
You offered a great tutorial. Thank you...

I'd very much like to see you paint a portrait. I mean, do you have any video on youtube or something where you're painting it...? I think I could totally grasp this if I saw that...I'm still having problems otherwise...
