Description
my idea of a flag of a Slavic Unionthe symbols:
1. pan-slavic colors used in many slavic flags
2. the 13 stars stands for the 13 slavic states (Poland, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia)
3. the sword as symbol of strengh and unity
4. the white eagle is a symbol you can find in the Polish coat of arms. on the flag of Serbia and Montenegro
the eagle you can also find on the flag of Russia

Nice flag! By the way, I have an alternate history story in my gallery which has, among other things, a true pan-Slavic alliance (as supposed to a brutal Soviet hegemony) created to fight the Nazis. The POD is the successful assassination of Lenin followed by an anarcho-syndicalist victory in the Russo-Ukrainian Civil War.
Stay cheeki breeki my friend!

Still, what about Sorbia, Kashubia, Pomerania, etc. who speak different Slavic languages but are not recognized as seperate nations?

As long as the heart of their sons

I like it, always liked the red, blue, white flag color
It would be cooler if it was a double headed eagle though, thanks for putting Bosnia & Herzegovina in!

Just the tricolour, it should be neutral... like Yugoslavia had blue-white-red, neutral scheme which no country had... this (Serbian) tricolour, especialy with the extra white eagle, would probably never been accepted in any south slavic country, except Serbia. Otherwise, greatr project

well, the blue-white-red maybe was neutral when it was introduced but now it's not neutral, it's Yugoslavian, unless people forgot about this country...

How are we not? The Slavs settled in Bosnia, and mixed with the Illyrians. We are probably a mix of Slavs and Illyrians. Maybe there is even some Avar and Gothic in there too..but mostly Slavic and Illyrian.

MOSTLY illyrian...yes of course there are far more ethnix groups mixed. but slavic is not that predominant. genetically in bosnia about 13% and hercegovina 8%. slaviv was maybe the rulers language or of higher social status. about 100 years ago for example, there was still the dalmatian language. and now? just gone and assimilated....

The Slavs came in large numbers, and more or less assimilated the Illyrians, their language and culture. Sure, we're are a mix, but I think the Slavic part is the predominant part. The Illyrians were all but gone during the middle-ages in Bosnia, at least their language and culture.

may be, but if it's about culture, music, folklore, food etc. then our culture has to be turkish! slavic is only the language....we are a big mix of many cultures

HawkeyeRadar In reply to hersekdin [2012-11-08 18:48:23 +0000 UTC]
Our culture isn't turkish, we have only borrowed some parts from turkish culture. You said it yourself, we are a mix. Slavic, ancient Illyrian, and some turkish.

Hehe, it doesnt matter if you can live with it or nor. Thats the way it is.
We are not Turks, and our culture isn't turkish.
We are Bosniaks, an ancient people, with a bosnian culture.

Oh wow, it fits perfectly. Great idea and symbolism.
On the other note - your German-Polish conf. idea is as uplifting as impossible in real-life (unfortunately). But I also like it very much
