Description
Standing at 15 ft tall with a 26'ft wingspan, the Kos'Chey are top dogs of the island. These beasts are a ravenous bunch, easily swallowing prey the size of man with 10'ft Skulls. They're greatly feared, yet they are respected by the strange creatures that have so graciously saved my behind from the Aleutian Cold... When I told them that dangerous creatures like these (Bears and Tigers) are exterminated by our people; They seemed appalled at the notion, telling me that without these... these... MONSTERS!!! The world would wither and die... How strange?... (A translated excerpt from the journal of Russian fur trader Stephan Glotov and is estimated to be written in the year 1765)The Kos'Chey belongs to a viviparous clade of Derived Azhdarchoids called Viviparornithes. the specific family of Kos'Cheidae have relatively short broad wings, leaving them with Galliforme-esque flight and rather live most of their lives on the ground. Being Apex Predators, Kos'Chey pursuit their prey on foot, grab the prey item, crane their stocky necks towards the sky, and engulf the unfortunate animal. Regarding their viparity, after a gestation period of 5 months; the Flapplings can stand, walk and even fly when born, but grow rather slowly to their titanic size, usually a decade. Most flaplings are killed by rival adults or by Sprac'Knoog. After three years, the flaplings grow large enough to defend themselves and later grow to full size by their tenth winter.
"I've really needed to get back on this project, and what better way then with experimenting a new art style. This one reminds me of a dark comic book style. Opinions...?

Love your concept! It's like Hatzegopteryx which was also top dog of it's ecosystem.

Cool, but I hope the head is a cartoon exaggeration.

I thought Azhdarchids had rather large heads in comparison with their bodies as their torso's could fit in their fenestrae?... Remind you this is a polar animal, with an extremely thick layer of pycno-fibres, the actual head begins slightly inside that Cheek outline.

I think if you made the head a lot NARROWER it would work. The beak is way too huge. It would need a longer body or tail to balance it.

Wait.. how wide do you think the skull is?... Most Azhdarchoids had skulls longer than their torsos as well...

Azhdarchids' skulls were very narrow, vertically. This creature has a very tall skull.

Well, are you confusing directions? A narrow vertical skull would be very tall...

The large under jaw's projection is actually the maximum that the throat can stretch. Normally the neck's hugs the base of the cheek, and specking of necks, its shorter/thicker neck containing more powerful muscles being able hold a larger head, even with a lightweight Azhdarchid skull.

Thanks for noticing, most of this viviparous Super-family will have much more robust bodies, henceforth the resemblance to those terrestrial pig-mimics.
Speaking of Dsungariperoids, many find them to resemble "by both niche and appearence" Ground horn-bills. As such, Ground Horn-bills are also believed to be the closest to a "Avian Hominid"... Spoiler Spoiler...

Looks alot nicer now that it's got REAL resemblance with Azhdarchids. Granted it's still much bulky, but that makes it more believable with some divergence... Right?
