Description
Another image as part of my Bath Crematorium project. The image depicts the anti chamber just outside the main chapel where mourners can find solace to be alone with their thoughts. The only source of light is from above, focusing the viewer on the thought of ascension and the idea of moving on. By constructing the space with insitu concrete it is embued with a primal feeling, giving a sense of finality to such an important event.Read the tutorial for how I created this image here [link]

The title ruins the picture, for me. The girl looks sad, and the whole picture gives a sadness and loneliness feeling : not contemplative at all. Too bad :/

usually complete face covering is sorrow or mourning, people typically hold their cheeks, or the back or top of their head when in thought

This is an amazing design. To be honest, when I first saw the image itself, without any commentary, I thought "What a clever prison." It was cold, impersonal concrete with high, sloping walls that couldn't be scaled or perforated, but with ample view of the sky, torturing the prisoner with the wide open, free spaces they cannot reach. I don't know why, but that was my first reaction.

Looks like a sad place to be, don't you think? The crack of light is great (it sort of reminds me of tadao ando's work), but if I was a mourner, I would definetely like to be in a less gloomy space.
