Description
In the future, perhaps xenopaleontologists on Mars will discover the remains of extinct Martian megafauna. Here's a hypothetical conception of what one may have looked like.

Mars' low gravity allowed for this creature to grow very large (around 20 feet in height). Since bone weighs less on Mars, it could afford to protect not only its brain but most of its organs inside of a skull-like casing without adding too much weight. The bones were obsidian-black and shiny when found, suggesting a different composition than bones on Earth. No fossilized mouthparts were found. Scientists speculate that it was jawless, and may have gathered food with a long tongue or elephant-like trunk. Three holes are present on the front of the skeleton; probably for sense organs.
