Description Based on what I've read, this concept for a hypersonic aircraft was developed by the Lockheed corporation in 1985. According to its design, it's four turboramjet engines would have been fueled by liquid methane and capable of propelling the aircraft to speeds up to mach 5 at 100,000 feet in altitude.

I drew this 5-view schematic based on a smaller 2-view schematic of the aircraft which can be found on the web in various places. Therefore, some speculation has been put into this schematic (the landing gear doors are of speculative design on my part). Fortunately, a scale was included on the original diagram, which allows for rough size estimates of this aircraft to be obtained:

Total Length: 159 feet, 7 inches
Fuselage Length: 138 feet, 0 inches
Wingspan: 81 feet, 1 inch
Horizontal Tailspan: 15 feet, 3 inches
Chine Sweep Angle: 82.6 degrees
Leading Edge Wing Sweep Angle: 51.2 degrees

I estimate its empty weight to be around 120,000 pounds, but that is just speculation.

Another deviant, , has also produced a slightly modified diagram of this aircraft. He calls it the SR-85 Black Knight: [link]

I'm actually using this as the base for a semi-realistic exo-atmospheric (space) fighter/interceptor, which utilises a rocket to carry it most of the way.

It is a nice designΒ to base it on.

I thought so too. Except mine is nuclear-powered.

At some point I'd like to make a 3d model of this one.

I know, right? I first saw a picture of this thing in a book I own about the Aurora Spy Plane by Bill Sweetman.

You don't have to. I won't require you to do anything extra to your version. You can if you want to, but that is entirely up to you.
