why do you have to make the highlight and shadow on different layers?

also, using the paintbrush to color in the lineart seems like a lot of work... bleh

thanks for the tut, i always have trouble with coloring ^-^"

You probably could put the highlight and shadow on the same layer if you were willing to blur them both by the same amount. Putting them on different layers just allows you to choose different blurring amounts for each one.

I think I have done something wrong but whenever I paint on the layer below the lineart, it doesn't show up! I'm pretty new to Paint.net so can someone help me out?

Kryptid In reply to lalalalalaleeeyyu [2013-05-05 04:07:56 +0000 UTC]

Are you making sure that you are drawing the lineart on a transparent layer and not on the white layer that appears when you first open Paint.NET?

Hey, how do you upload from paint.net? This seems like a dumb question, but I'm used to MS Paint. It says "preveiw picture select" Or something

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kryptid In reply to psychxnaut [2010-08-06 00:41:09 +0000 UTC]

You mean uploading a Paint.NET file from your computer to deviantART? You can't. You have to save it in another form like .png first.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

psychxnaut In reply to Kryptid [2010-08-06 00:50:34 +0000 UTC]

Okay, once you upload it to the .png file, you can?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kryptid In reply to psychxnaut [2010-08-06 00:51:21 +0000 UTC]

It should upload if you save it as a .png file.
