Description A sample of some red main-sequence stars. All of these are M-class stars (with the exception of 2MASS J0523-1403, which is L-class).

Some notes:
- Despite their name, red dwarf stars are usually more orange than red.
- Red dwarf stars typically range from about 0.075 solar masses to 0.50 solar masses and have a temperature below 4,000 Kelvins.
- 2MASS J0523-1403 is the smallest known "true" star (i.e. a star that performs proton fusion).
- Proxima Centauri is both the nearest red dwarf star to Earth (at 4.25 light-years) and the nearest star overall aside from the Sun.
- Jupiter is added for comparison purposes.
