I know Sonic Team's current head Takashi Iizuka has stated that only male hedgehogs can enter super form, but personally I find that to be a rather stupid thing for him to say, honestly. As if the hedgehogs in the series need more reason to be "special".
It's nice that fans like you haven't forgotten about Super Knuckles. Given that he's been around the Master Emerald (which controls the Chaos Emeralds) all his life, it'd make sense that Knuckles can use super form as well.Β
And I'm probably sure you're aware of this, but, Super Knuckles finally makes his return in Sonic Mania.

Super Knuckles and Hyper Knuckles have exactly the same appearance. The only difference is that Hyper Knuckles leaves afterimages when he moves.
