Hiccup is an electric guitarist because technically he is more skilled with his fingers than Jack is. Thus he’s able to lay down the sick riffs and licks and all that jazz.
Jack because he’s not as technically brilliant as Hiccup, he’s a bass guitarist reasons because rhythm is just as fun.
And yes, I say this again: These two dorks have a lot of unresolved sexual tension and it shows a lot on stage. Plus their fans ship them.

errr...excuse me but bass players are not LESS technically skilled than guitarists, that's ofensive, John Myung, the bassist from Dream Theater plays a six strings bass so amazingly any guitarist would be jealous, please don't take my comment as an attack, I just wanted to point that out.
