HAhaAh ... so names = hard!  But i took it from the old high German name Koen , which i think means: bold adviser .  I think it is a popular dutch name now.   I wouldn't know what species to even call him, kinda its own thing.

dutch and  german are  linguistically cousins and look alike ot non native speakers
(  native speakers however  notice the differences and then some )

and  names are hard   a name needs to  fit it needs to feel right 

generally speaking  i  know  the meaning of the names for my characters  and why i named them that

other then a tim the tiger  pun  she is named timothy  because  it means  closer to god  or to honor god 
tim is a  god  (  god of destruction  ) how much closer to god can you be  if you are one your self  ?
and her mother is also a god  (  chaos  ) 
her mother also has a  bloody ego on her so  she probably went for the  honor god meaning

..or maybe she just thought  tim the tiger  was funny  cause she is a lunatic 

but yeah names are a funny thing

I try to look into the meanings to, sadly i don't lore build with my chars as much as i'd want i usually leave them semi flushed out, so if i wanna RP them or play dnd i can fit them into the world better.  But i do start with a general idea.

i do build them up slowly  over  the years
i start with an idea and see what happens 
tim is  13 years old now  and stil as grouchy  and  devoid  of clothes as ever 

(  originally i drew her without clothes cause that would come later  and then it became part of her  character what does a god need  with clothes anyway  ?
and 
she is destruction clothes wont last long on her anyway  )

but characters are  always a work in progress  you never  truly finish them
