Know what? that info has always been subjective to change depending on what medium they're in, like in Mario Kart and Smash, the inklings don't dissolve in water, but in their own games it's an instant drowning to the point there's multiple jokes about it. But also in the actual games, Callie and Marie offhandedly say they posed at a hotel Swimming Pool for swimwear.
It urks me sometimes, but I normally just say "Ehhh, whatevs"
