Description So other than MEM, I have another original story that I'm working on alone, and this little guy happens to be the main character. This was drawn a while ago so he's shorter than he's supposed to be, and the pose is boring because I was trying to figure out a design back then. Also his more recent design has a mouth instead of a mask thing... and he has clothes, but whatever I haven't colored any of that yet. Whatever, he's just a robot named after Pinocchio who happens to be the world's first sentient robot. Story will be explained later.

Heh, yeah, I'm planning on just drawing a plain version of him later today with the sweater and stuff.

Technically, yes. But most other people in the story doesn't care whether he wears clothes or not.

I know. Though I like the idea of him being a robot but being conscious about clothes. Very Adam and Eve-esque

Heh, yeah, it just comes with wanting to fit in with humans and all. Though luckily he wears more than a leaf.

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-21 01:15:19 +0000 UTC]

If he wore a leaf I bet Agil would find it so KAWAII.

Also weird because Pin isn't sexy he's a cute robot

NO NO NO PLEASE NO

EVEN IF HE HAD A MORE ADULT-LIKE BODY HE WOULD NOT BE SEXY

Robot abs.

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-21 04:19:50 +0000 UTC]

NOOOOOOO

THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE ABS

… Unless their engineer builds them in because they're creepy.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-21 12:25:41 +0000 UTC]

If there are prostitute robots, there can be ab robots.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-21 16:06:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh my god you're right. Though even if male prostitute robots existed in their world, Copper would not allow Pin to look like them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-21 19:04:53 +0000 UTC]

So the robots can have boobies but Pin can't have abs...?

... Honestly that's for the best.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-21 22:48:41 +0000 UTC]

Only some can. Besides it's really looked down upon anyway, thus why the other robot I drew doesn't even really have boobs, just a feminine figure.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-22 00:12:31 +0000 UTC]

But bobbies... I guess it is weird to imagine how they'd jump. They wouldn't because they're metal. It's really complicated.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-22 07:56:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah they're pretty stiff and don't bounce, but the creeps who buy/build them don't usually care about the difference.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-22 10:27:40 +0000 UTC]

GOOD GOD THEY HAVE NO STANDARDS

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-22 22:57:29 +0000 UTC]

They really don't, which is why the general public tends to be a bit skeptical of custom robot programmers/engineers. Though some that don't make the prostitute ones are still praised for innovation and creativity.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-23 10:19:03 +0000 UTC]

Well even robot programmers today don't turn their robots into slaves for that reason, so there should be no concern.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-23 23:15:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... but then again, our culture hasn't really been shaped by the concept of robotics that can't feel emotions. I imagined in their world, they're not used to personifying robots and such, so they're kind of seen as emotionless metal bodies that do stuff for you.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-23 23:20:52 +0000 UTC]

Aw... so that's why the robots with sentience are kind of regarded with weird looks then?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-23 23:25:45 +0000 UTC]

Yep. It's kind of weird to the other people when they see a robot acting so human-like because they expect them to literally be only existing to serve. Think like how an obnoxious customer would treat a Starbucks employee.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-24 00:55:23 +0000 UTC]

OH. Or any retail employee. Where they think they're mindless drones with no other purpose other than to be a set of hands. Wow, people are jerks for thinking that then!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-24 07:25:35 +0000 UTC]

Pretty much, yeah that's how robots are viewed in that world. And I mean, they're not entirely wrong, because none of them actually had emotions or sentience until Pin came along.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-24 09:41:36 +0000 UTC]

Interesting... and I honestly feel like with your story, it's a prediction of the future. Someone will try to make a robot as close to a human as possible and it'll be an ethical issue.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-24 21:15:04 +0000 UTC]

Heck yeah! I sort of wanted it to go that way anyways. I figured that not giving robots sentience normally would be a protection from a robot takeover, but instead of dehumanizing them and making robots scary, I kind of just wanted to make them as close to humans as possible. The best example I can think of with a similar idea is how Overwatch treats their robot characters.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-24 21:57:45 +0000 UTC]

That's awesome then! It's definitely a change from the two tropes. Either robots are human and mindless or they're evil and want to destroy everything.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-25 05:16:21 +0000 UTC]

I figured that it was time to break a trope and write them like any other human, but they would be very legitimately human. For example, like C-3PO in Star Wars was sentient, but he was still obidient and accepted that he was built for a specific purpose, which I don't think an average person would do themselves.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-25 10:32:49 +0000 UTC]

Most robots probably wouldn't accept the fact that they're supposed to serve a higher power in the robot apocalypse trope or event the other one, so it's a nice change.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-25 22:00:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah! Though sadly that was kind of how I was originally going to go about the story. But after a while, I just wanted to write him like a human, which in a sense he pretty much is, mentally at least.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-25 22:46:01 +0000 UTC]

He is the best mentally-human robot I've ever seen. And that's because he's really the only one I've seen, so it's original to me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-25 23:49:19 +0000 UTC]

I admit, I got kind of bored of robots who don't really act all that human, and in most stories the most human-like ones look like humans, like they're in a weird silicon body or something.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-26 01:10:17 +0000 UTC]

The trope is overdone... I wonder why the most human-like ones are made of silicon though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-26 03:32:58 +0000 UTC]

Just to resemble humans more closely really, but I always liked the thought of a robot that legitimately looks like a robotic but acts more human than anything. The closest I can think of is Glados, but she literally had her human conscience transferred to a robot.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-26 10:12:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh god, that is freaking cool. Like when did you even come up with that idea? It sounds like you've had it for a while.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-26 17:56:40 +0000 UTC]

I'm… not exactly sure. In all honesty I think I got it from Megaman because like almost all the characters are robots, yet they act like normal people, and I actually thought they were just humans in battle suits or something.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-26 19:42:02 +0000 UTC]

Wh-

THEY'RE ALL ROBOTS?!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-26 20:58:00 +0000 UTC]

Yep! Apparently so. Megaman, Protoman, every Robot Master, Bass, Zero, and even freaking Roll are robots. The only humans are Doctor Light and Doctor Wily. At least in the classic and X series. In the Legends series, most of the characters were actually humans…

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-26 21:05:36 +0000 UTC]

But they look so SEAMLESS HOW CAN THEY BE ROBOTS

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-27 01:33:14 +0000 UTC]

I HAVE NO IDEA! I think it has something to do with anime logic or whatever. Maybe the only way to tell if they're not human is checking if they have blasters or not.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-27 01:49:46 +0000 UTC]

Just looking into MM's face is so strange because he looks human because of if. I'll go by the blasters rule.

It's kind of weird... I mean I like it but it makes the r34 way more creepy. Like your prostitute robots level of creepy.

You'll find it eventually

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-28 00:57:42 +0000 UTC]

I WILL AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS! At least it's not one of those things where if you google it you immediately get porn, like how it is when you look up Metroid.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-28 01:01:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh god I haven't looked up Metroid and now I'm thankful for that...

Kufguh In reply to SigmaAlphaThree [2016-06-28 17:45:21 +0000 UTC]

I mean, considering that zero suit, you're bound to see porn. Makes me wonder what you can google and rule 34 won't show up?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SigmaAlphaThree In reply to Kufguh [2016-06-28 18:35:13 +0000 UTC]

Hm... well there's even Rule 34 for the Frosted Flakes mascot so I really wouldn't know.

YEAH ON TWITTER FURRIES WERE BEGGING HIM (even though I don't know why a cereal mascot has a twitter) FOR SOME PRETTY DIRTY STUFF. I feel bad for any kids who saw that.
