Description this is for a roleplay site I'm on. Hence the name 'Empy' ^_^

EDIT: I apologize for the older art style of this piece. Because it has received so much attention I have every intention of updating it sometime soon. Please check out the rest of my gallery in the meantime, I promise my work has improved since this!

LOL, pretending to know horse anatomy.
Great style! Like the Spirit movie.
Any tutorials on how to do "the melon"? I'd love to learn both! The melon is rather a cute style. May be useful!

Actually, Horses DO have visible whites to their eyes! Just not usually under normal circumstances. A horse looks the most panicked when there's a lot of white showing (which is when you give him some nice hay, lock him up in the paddock and back away SLOWLY) but my with my horse, that's not the case...The whites of his eyes always show. XD He looks all crazy all the time, it's funny. And as for horse anatomy..The horse you have there isn't standing at ease, it's at attention (the hock lines up with the neck when at attention) and when at ease, one foot is placed forward and all the weight is situated onto the other foot. If the horse is standing square (Like the horse in your picture) it's either in a show and has been trained to do so or is at attention. . I know a lot about horses...XD

Thanks for the tips, I don't actually own a horse or anything so I wouldn't know!

Kellaigh In reply to kungpowkitten [2009-03-24 16:40:53 +0000 UTC]

It isn't that clearly visible though :3
I think it looks weird in drawings when you don't draw any white... But thats just my opinion :3

Thanks a looooot for the tutorial, I love your style ^^

Glad you found it helpful. I'll be redoing this sometime soon, hopefully, so keep a watch out for that. This is actually really outdated, and the amount of favs makes me feel bad for it not being cleaner... I'll be including more how-to's and updating the example artwork. Thanks for the fav, btw. I really appreciate it.

I'm trying out some stuff now
I found out that (how do you call that?) just going over your lines a couple of times, helps when I go and try on my own. ^^
I can't wait till you finish the new one :3
It would be great if you could put in some things about drawing different sides of the horse.. I can now draw left/right sides, and the front is hard to do..
But, thank YOU. ^^

o-o' actualllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy a horse is at ease when he is licking his lips, his head is down for the most part, and on foot it cocked (:

TeachMeMogster In reply to Inuso [2013-08-17 04:50:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's what I meant - all the weight on one foot, the other foot forward/cocked. Like the seven years ago I wrote this comment.
