This was supposed to be a desert with a sandstorm in the background.But instead it looks like flying chocolate cake

It's because the separation between the dark brown edge and the inner part of the ground is with curvy lines. That makes it look like chocolate-sauce, hehe. Also, add some rocks and other dry stuff that you'd expect in the desert. Crack the ground some more. That should fix it up ^_^

My suggestion-
make the lines on top like soft zigzags. (dunes). color one side a dark yellow, the other a light yellow. the sides can be bumpy. also you can make it look like they are sand-covered rocks.

The problem it the stone and sand. Switch the two colors and it should look fine. Sand and duck should be on top, but instead it looks crusted over stone. Not pretty.
