Second tutorial~A friend of mine, , knew I was going to dye one of my wig and wanted to know how I would proceed. So I thought... Why not make a tutorial about it ? XD
It was my first time dyeing a wig ever O.O
I was so scared to ruin it >.I didn't put any picture of myself with it caaauussse... it's still drying up a bit XD
But I'll have pictures soon enough
So anyway... I hope you enjoyed it and if you have any question you can ask! ^^

Also, if you're not doing it outside, you may want to protect the surrounding surfaces around like I did with that sheet XD

So I've seen this tutorial a lot, and a lot of people have really good results. I'm just having issues. I've got 70% rubbing alcohol, FW acrylic ink in burnt umber, and a long orange wig I'm trying to get a more rusty color. I'll let the wig dry lying down in my tub for 24 hours, turning it around and spreading out the hair to make sure it all dries, but as soon as the water hits it it ALWAYS rinses out. The color change has been so slight even after 2 bottles it's barely noticeable, and not anywhere close to where I need it to be. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, since I use the right alcohol, the right ink, the right ratio, and cold as ice water to rinse. And as soon as I start to squeeze the water out of the wig so it can dry, there's a waterfall of brown. Has anyone else had this issue? Have they found a way around it?

I had a bit of an issue with the color rubbing off after a bit of time. But I use some hair spray and a color sealer in spray to fix it. But it's the first time that I hear that the color rinse off immediately though....Β

Like I said, it'll stain it slightly, but it's very little when you figure how many dyes it has gone through. I'm going to let it set for 2 days, see if that helps. About all else I use on it is some wig detangler to help when I comb it out after rinsing, but it's very little added moisture so I don't know how that also makes all the color wash out when I rinse again. I'm starting to think it's just the wig being a butt.

I already tried to dye an old one... I think that the fibers were too damaged and it was really too old... It didn't came out well so I just threw it away xD

Can this also work on a brown wig to black
And since I'm only using 1 dye color how much dye and rubbing alcohol should I use ( in measurements please )

Would this method work for dying a cheap pink wig black? I've had this short cheap wig for a number of years, and I've never used it, I thought could die it black for a cosplay I'm working on right now, so do you think it'll work?

You can always try.
I don't guarantee at it will work since never change a wig that drastically though.

Cool! So if I use yellow fw ink on a super light platinum blonde, will i get a pale yellow blonde? I also don't want a neon yellow wig.

Make sure to put less ink in your mix then!
Rinse well between the applications to look at the color you got.
So a light yellow it's better to put less ink but to do more applications. It's the better way to do it without having a neon yellow wig

Thanks it turned out well! But when I rub the wig hair with my fingers I get some yellow on it, does that happen to you?

can you dye a wig that has a dark colour and do the same thing. I have a blood red wig which is nice except the tips of the hair need to be maroon. Is it the same principle? what is I wanted to make it lighter, do you know if that would work in case I may want to do it in the future?

I guess you could alway pin away the fibers that you don't want to dye and put something to protect it over them.
But you can't really make a wig lighter. You can change to coloring or make it darker. I still don't know a way to make it lighter

May I ask where you got your wig? I think it's absolutely awesome! And wow it's England's? It's a really nice wig ^^ This tutorial was great! My Denmark wig is a bit to yellowish so I need to get it a bit more brownish and this tutorial will help a lot! Now I just need to find similar stuff in Norway ;A;

Yeah you can easily mix a little bit less of ink (it will just give a smaller shade of yellow) and instead of orange you can use a bit of brown
As long as it is Acrylic Ink

But I find that it was yellowish enough for him... and I cut it... It was a really failed attempt at Kise Ryouta from Kuroko no Basket XD
