Originally designed by the USA in the mid 2030s to replace the aging M2 Bradley, the Liberator IFV was designed with survivability, easy repair and easy modification in mind. Quickly adopted by most of NATO and other US allies due to its low cost to effectiveness ratio, the Liberator was produced in massive numbers and saw combat across much of the world. Several thousand were purchased by China in 2041 shortly after its transition to a democratic government. It was truly remarkable, and the facts that it was easy to repair and to modify to incorporate new technology or adapt to new environments ensured that it stayed in use after Earth was invaded by the Yiyeshirn.

The Yiyeshirn ("Yiyeshirn" roughly translates as "homogenous nation-state" or "naturalised nation-state", the nation itself is made up of several alien races with a united culture, government and practices) quite quickly established their hegemony over Earth and set about naturalising the human race. Of course there many that did not want to be naturalised, including nigh-on every member of an armed force. They were no match for Yiyeshirn forces, initially, and hundreds of thousands of soldiers were killed or captured in the first few years of occupation. The remnants of Earth's armed forces quickly pooled their resources, and the Liberator IFV was the single most numerous armoured vehicle that the Resistance Forces operated. It was sparsely used, however, due to the inavailibility of spare parts and fuel.

The Liberator then saw widespread use again during the Liberation War ("The War Over Earth" to the Yiyeshirn) as the People's Dual-Presidential State (another alien nation opposed to the Yiyeshirn's ideology and brutal belief in naturalisation of all people) declared war on the Yiyeshirn and designated the Liberation of Earth as their first and most important aim. The PDPS made use of the existing Resistance Forces, supplying them with fuel, spare parts and kits to modify their vehicles to incorporate more advanced technology. Liberators across the world, having been designed to be easily modified, were quickly repaired, improved, and put to work, and were easily the backbone of the Resistance Forces at this time.

The Liberator stayed a symbol of human independence and resistance to false authority for over a century. After humanity's independence and unification, many Liberator IFVs were maintained by Earth's government with their old Resistance symbols intact. Though they were mostly obsolete as fighting vehicles, these vehicles would take place in parades and would easily inspire feelings of patriotism in any human.
