Description FULL VIEW FOR TUTORIAL

Update: 15th June 2010

As I am too busy, It will be hard for me to reply to comments on this page. However, if the issue is really pressing, you're free to note me, and I will do my best to answer.

Let's help each other! If you see a question on this page that you can answer, feel free to help out. You'll have all our gratitude.

---------------------------------------------------------

Take note before beginning the tutorial:
1. You must have a tablet. Wacom is a popular and reliable brand for the most part. For beginners, I'd suggest a Bamboo Fun model.

2. For photoshop, only version 7.0 and up has wacom support. For other software, please check [link] to see if yours has the right support.

3. Also, please ensure you have your tablet drivers are installed. If yours is a wacom model you can download them from the wacom homepage at [link]

--------------------------------------

I've received quite a number of question regarding my work, one of them being "How DO you do your lineart?" Hopefully, this tutorial will answer that question.

This is a BEGINNER LEVEL TUTORIAL that was done in Photoshop CS, but should work for any version with tablet capabilities. Even if you dont use photoshop, the fundamentals are the same.

Please tell me if it helps, and if I should do a colour tutorial. (I am considering it, but its ALOT of work.)

I'm thinking about buying a Wacom Bamboo A6 (I guess...) because I'm sick of inking on paper. And I need to practise digital art. .______.""

Yeah, yeah believe me, Genius have a long listing on tablets: mouse pen,Pentablet, etc...And you can find them literally in any computation shop, comes with replacements of the tip, CDs with softwares like Adobe photoshop elements or Corel painters, that's why i recommend to you to buy one of them.

When you say only photoshop 7 and up has wacom support, do you mean the pen pressure settings and such? cause i have ps 5 and use a wacom tablet on it.

My tablet is an Adesso. But this tutorial really helped. I've never set those things to pen pressure before, don't know why but it never crossed my mind. I had always wondered how people got their lines so.. smooth and flowy I guess.. now I know. Before this I thought it was just the brand of tablet that allowed the lines to look better xD

KaoNeko In reply to ??? [2010-07-07 03:53:16 +0000 UTC]

wow very usefull tutorial but when you say "work on high resolution" changing the dpi of the images es not the same that resize the imagen 200% or 300% for example? what's the diference?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Haventownsend In reply to KaoNeko [2010-07-23 09:17:04 +0000 UTC]

Its how many dots per inch, websites are usually 72 dpi, its kinda saying how many pixels in an inch.

150 dpi equals a higher quality image because it is holding more pixels per square inch.

a 200 by 300 picture at 72dpi isnt as clear as a 200 by 300 at 150dpi but the 150 will be smaller image sine more pixels are going in per inch.

Im not too familiar with brands outside Wacom. However, their Bamboo and Bamboo fun models are both adequate and affordable as an investment.
