Description FULL VIEW FOR TUTORIAL

Update: 15th June 2010

As I am too busy, It will be hard for me to reply to comments on this page. However, if the issue is really pressing, you're free to note me, and I will do my best to answer.

Let's help each other! If you see a question on this page that you can answer, feel free to help out. You'll have all our gratitude.

---------------------------------------------------------

Take note before beginning the tutorial:
1. You must have a tablet. Wacom is a popular and reliable brand for the most part. For beginners, I'd suggest a Bamboo Fun model.

2. For photoshop, only version 7.0 and up has wacom support. For other software, please check [link] to see if yours has the right support.

3. Also, please ensure you have your tablet drivers are installed. If yours is a wacom model you can download them from the wacom homepage at [link]

--------------------------------------

I've received quite a number of question regarding my work, one of them being "How DO you do your lineart?" Hopefully, this tutorial will answer that question.

This is a BEGINNER LEVEL TUTORIAL that was done in Photoshop CS, but should work for any version with tablet capabilities. Even if you dont use photoshop, the fundamentals are the same.

Please tell me if it helps, and if I should do a colour tutorial. (I am considering it, but its ALOT of work.)

what tablet do you use? ... do you have to buy the ones that are like Β£700 .. or is there is a cheaper one to buy?? .. i need help

kuridoki In reply to GoseiGreen [2009-01-04 15:58:03 +0000 UTC]

There are plenty of much much cheaper models that might at most cost you like 200? The wacom models like the Bamboo fun or their graphire series are great if you are just starting out with a tablet, and are just as effective as the more expensive ones. Though of course, if you have the cash to spare, wacom's intuos line is a great investment too.

that wave brush...
i don't have it! ;__;

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rydi1689 In reply to CherPhobium [2008-11-26 21:19:56 +0000 UTC]

It's a normal round brush.

Go to the brushes window, then select on the left column "Brush tip Shape". On the bottom of the page you should see either two dots separated or a line, if you see the dots (the preview of the brush) then mark the box "spacing" that's above the preview and then set it to 1% (see sample here -> [link] ). Now you should have a wavy line instead of the dots. This is what the spacing tool makes --> [link] the dotted-line on the bottom has pretty high spacing, between 50-70% maybe, the next would have less 20-30%and the last one would have very low spacing, 1-10%. The less spacing % the better the line is.

Afterwards go to shape dynamics and select "Brush Dynamics" and set everything to 0% and the first "Control" option as "pen pressure" . Once you have that wavy line that gets thiner in the edges go to "Other Dynamics" and set both control options to "pen pressure" and 0% and your brush is ready now! (that's how you make that wave brush she uses)

Hope this was somewhat useful

And...

Wow, thanks so much for posting this tutorial! ~β™₯ I've always thought that I'd have to do perfect digital lineart @ 100% zoom with 300 DPI , which is basically what I've been doing ><--takes an insane amount of time!

Just to clear some things up: so after you're done your lineart at 300DPI, you reduce it to 150 DPI right? And, is this the resolution you print your art with?

How is it so easy to do tablet work?
When I put the pen down on the tablet, it draws on a random spot on my "work space", how do I know where to put the pen on my tablet, to keep the lines together on PS~? o,o
