I spent all weekend a couple of weeks ago, working on hand drawing a stacked rock/stone texture. It was for my own practice really. I was quite pleased with how it turned out. Completely seamless.

Version 1's normal map isn't as strong, For more of a cartoony look,
Version 2 is a lot stronger, and even though these are hand drawn textures and not realistic ones, you can get a nice realistic feel from the normal maps on Version 2.
