This is a 100% original character design I made for the Fantasy Earth Zero contest on deviantART .

SCOUT

Overall concept - I see the scout character as being in tune with nature, but I still wanted my clothing design to be original. She does not have a lot of heavy clothing, armor, or weaponry (which would be just too unwieldy for a scout to pull off). I went for a standard light combat outfit with certain elements, designs, and colors inspired by nature.

Big Shell Helm - Modified from a giant snail shell, this headgear is specifically designed to amplify sound. She can hear a sorcerer casting spells a mile away. An added benefit is that it is lightweight and changes her silhouette (which may be helpful when trying to hide).

Lynx Paw Boots - Specialized boots with paw pads and claws. Its tracks resemble that of a large animal, making this scout that much harder to follow.

Atlatl and Spear - I quickly figured out that a large bow is an absurd thing to be carrying everywhere for a scout. The scout's design is meant to be light and agile. That's why this scout is smart. Utilizing the ancient spear thrower known as an altlatl in Meso-American culture, this weapon can launch a poisoned dart/spear around 100 km per hour. She can also use a large, specialized dart as a combat spear, if need be (pictured here). In addition, the atlatl also takes the form of a nasty blade. (The notch on the top of the blade what is used to launch the spear).

So please at least comment on this before it loses (as I know it will). I really wanna do a digital version of her, more closely resembling the art style of the game, Fantasy Earth Zero. It would probably compete better with the other entries as well.

So... too many hours sketching designs both on paper and in Photoshop. Line art and coloring done in colored pencil and marker. Photoshop used for putting together elements and additions/adjustments/making it look purty.
