I'd think he could put up a fight. They never explained if Salem can regenerate, right?
If she can't, all the immortality in the world wouldn't be worth squat if she's missing a few limbs or a head.
That would be a dark ending for RWBY. Decapitate Salem and lock up her head somewhere, never to see the light of day again.
