'Gembala' means shepherdOne of many things I like about my country is on the beauty of its nature. Indonesia has lots of amazing natural beauties, from mountain tops to ocean deep. I've always mesmerized by the view of terraced rice fields on mountains. It's also one of the most common theme on Indonesia's traditional paintings. I've always wanted to give my own shot on the scene, and hope to be able to deliver a relaxing, peaceful, and serene feeling on the piece.

woah, it's been a while. Second half of 2014 was a hectic moment for me, but it's over! I'm back to do more paintings this year, and this is my first painting on 2015!

Really beautiful piece to start off with. My problems with this piece are how the styles of the man and the bull seem to differ from most anything else. Let me explain a bit more if I can. As you can see the foreground is appropriately detailed and as you go to the midground it it still seems to keep a fairly crisp level of detail. However, the man and bull have this type of different style to them and are simplified quite a bit more in comparison to their surroundings. It's not necessarily a bad thing to have them in that style it's just that they seem to be lacking and unfinished. Other then that I think the mountains in the distance should have a bit of a softer edge as right now where they meet the clouds its such a hard edge that it sticks out a bit too much. Still absolutely beautiful work dude.

yes, I agree with the points you said. I think the reason for the man and buffalo issue is that they were rushed so they're not as detailed as they were supposed to be.
And yes, for the farthest mountain I also have some issue, I also think it stands out too much. Maybe the colors are too vibrant for something that far.

This painting clearly expresses the love you have for your country. Β The white daisy in the left foreground, along with the buffalo silhouetted against the distant mountains, add depth to your painting. Β The movement of the clouds in the sky adds interest also. Β

Thank you! That's what I aimed for (the contrast of foreground flower and buffalo against the background), to make the characters pop and give a sense of depth, and I'm glad you see it that way, too!
