So what was your biggest problem with this "idealization of their image" anyway?

I have no problem with it.
I tried to convey an idea similar to something you can hear in a conversation in one of the Mass Effect games about the Asari. Since there is a remarkable resemblance between the Syreen and the Asari and the Syreen has this repulsive iteration in SC3, I had this theory that perhaps the Syreen use their psychic abilities to augment the percetion of everyone they interact with about themselves. Maybe there's something that's preventing them to use this power of theirs in the Kessari quadrant or by the time of SC3 they just decided to drop the facade.

Maybe.
By the way, did you hear that I wanted to see a rebel Cjenjesu who refused to become a Chmmr?

In SC2, the Syreen looked like overglorified blue-skinned freakish... Dunno, [REDACTED]?

My greatest problem with Star Control II was always the fact that even though I could name my Captain, his ship and his empire and interarct with the aliens in many different ways, I was ALWAYS forced to become Talana's lover in the end, think of her as "beautiful" and have gandchildren.
No way. I never liked Talana or the Syreen in general. They were creepy and unattractive.
And I didn't like my future being fixed either. Knowing that the Captain is going to survive to old age takes away all the excitement from any future games, because he's protacted by plot armor. If there's ever going to be a next game (fanmade or otherwise), I totally want the option to ditch Talana and be finally free from her mental domination...

Well, fear not, they won't be in Origins.

Is there any chat feature so I could stop clogging up your art?

I can sorta see that, but most of that is the plot of the ENTIRE game and its shitty back-stories. Past that, I can see your point, I sometimes humm that beat to the K'Tang's theme, and the DAklatpatshat (OR whatever the hell) and the arilou theme is good. Along with some music, some of the creativity is smooth, but most of the time it looks like they just tried to hard.

I think it's rather charming as a standalone game. Just ditch the parts where it wants to resemble SC and replace those with some original content and you got some awesome, unique stuff, like the Captain Blood series. I'd totally re-use the SC3 content somehow.

Awesome, as usual. Especially love the StarTrek-like console Not so much the brain-in-the-jar, I think it's out of place and the neon-green is not a very good color for this composition, I think.

It was intended to emphasize the creepy and intimidating nature of the real Syreen, and to fill out the left end of the screen. Nevertheless you're right. I'll have to replace it with something once I get to producing a low res version, but right now I'm out of ideas. Suggestions?

Perhaps something amorphous, like plasma ball, with or without the mini-lightnings. About the color, around the red/pink/violet hues.
