Description
After distro-hopping across basically every distro I could find that supported the Raspberry Pi, none of them really fit my needs. So I'm working on my own.
This is a spin of Raspbian I've been working on with IceWM in place of the usual Pixel environment. Raspbian distro I tested that ran smoothly and didn't choke on the limited resources available to it, but I'm not a fan of the PIXEL environment and I wanted something that was more customizable, so I chose the IceWM window manger because of its light footprint (a boot to the desktop I have right now still leaves about 600mb of the ~1000mb of RAM available).
I started with Raspbian Lite (bare-bones, cli-only, no x installed), and compiled the latest IceWM and have been adding packages such as thunar for the file manager and wicd for networking. It also has a few other nice things, like Firefox with ublock installed instead of Chromium.
As you can see, I'm also working on a tool called ice-conf that will let you set basic IceWM settings through a gui instead of configuration files. I also made a theme called Nightfall that is being used in the screenshot.
I'll publish it in a month or two when it's ready
