Description
Here is a draft version of what may become the cover for my comic book, "Clues", published in french by Akileos [link]There is no plan of translating it in english, unfortunately. And it will be available in France, Switzerland, Belgium, and "french" Canada.
When the final version is done, it will be posted on my other account,
there you will also find previews, sketches and a summary for the comic book!
I posted this draft here, as I know I might receive more opinions here.
Now I really need to know something, honestly:
Would you buy the book, judging it by the cover?

Si je ne l'acheterais pas sur-le-champ (ce qui m'étonnerais grandement) je prendrais au moins le temps de voir en quoi consiste l'histoire (et après je l'achèterais!) mais cette opinion est biaisé puisque je sais que c'est un "fellow deviant" qui l'a fait...
L'image manque un peu de punch (c'est sûrement dû au fait que c'est juste une ébauche) et la police de caractère du titre est trop commune (en plus le crénage est à retravailler un tout petit peu, il n'y a que l'espace entre le E et le S qui est correct)
Il va être publié au Québec pour de vrai?! Si je le vois en magasin, c'est sur que je me l'achète!

Sorry, sort of late to respond on this, but I think this could benefit from some more bright hilights on certain areas to really catch peoples eye, or maybe pull the figure in the foreground out more... its a really great layout as it is, just needs a tiny bit more 'oomph' if you know what I mean. Also, will the comic be available to people in the US to buy?

I love it; the perspective, the colours - everything about it is instantly eye-catching and hooks you in. You've done an excellent job and if I ever see this on the shelf I'll be snapping it up before you can say "Clues"!

I make it a habit to collect comics judging by their covers and I would buy it in a heartbeat. I wish I could get it in the US, since I can read french and love the sketches and art and plot I've seen from you! Maybe I can get my french teacher to grab it for me when she's there for christmas or something.

I judge most things I read by the cover (or by what a friend who has read it says about it)
and this I would buy.

Man, you should make a special shipment to America because I know how to read French and I would love to read this but.. yeah. Haha. And judging by the cover, yes, I would probably pick it up and look through it, probably sit down right on the store floor. Haha.

I'd get it. ^^ But, as a couple people have mentioned, the text doesn't fit. The 3D effect on the "Clues" looks especially strange.
When you say French Canada, is that only Quebec, or all of Canada? Because I live in Ontario and I speak French pretty well, but I wouldn't be able to get it if it isn't available, y'know?

Yes, and I always judge by the book art. Good job, I think it does well in summarizing the feel of the other bits of the book you've posted up here. People who purchase your book won't be disappointed by the artwork.

I love it. It seems to have the main ingredients of the story - the tension between the main characters, the Victorian setting, and a real sense of mystery.

I totally would...well, if I understood French. The composition and perspective really give it an unsettling edge. It kind of makes me think of the illustrations in the Series of Unfortunate Events. Everything is disconcerting and possibly a little dangerous. Also you've really given us a sense of the characters. Good luck with the book and I can't wait to see a finished cover.

I think it's looking good, I'd probably give it a look see if I were to come across it... Although I'm not too sure if I like the depth given to the title, but then again, this is just the draft. In any case, thumbs up from my end!

Je trouve que la police du titre est géniale, et j'aime bien la composition d'ensemble de l'image, c'est très dynamique et ça donne envie de lire !
Par contre, je trouve que ça manque de luminosité et de contraste. La palette est chouette, mais tu pourrais travailler davantage sur les reflets de lumière et assombrir un peu le reste, pour ajouter à la tension et à l'ambiance (un effet carrément "nuit", et pas "après-midi d'automne orageux avec léger crachin", si tu vois ce que je veux dire !

I'd certainly buy it! I like that it's not a typical loudly colored/action comic cover. It looks like a novel you can relax and read.
The cover art shows exactly what to expect, in genre, content and art style. I think it's perfect. It poses the visual question of "What's going on." I'm intrigued and want to know more, i.e. buy the book!
I hope Akileos is prepared to ship a bunch to the USA...
Anyway, you're an inspiration to me, as I've a graphic novel as a goal, too.

Honestly? I don't usually buy books based on the cover. XD I always look at the blurb on the back and read a page or so first. Or, if it's a comic, I flip through it to see what the pages look like. :3

I would pick it up, becuase the protagonist is an intelligent, interesting-looking woman... she's not one of those typical pretty-pinky-bubbly girls from teen comics, and she's not a volumtuous, barely clad superhero vixen. So there's a big plus for me!
Also, the man looks handsome, and ambiguous... I'm not sure if he's good or bad, which definitely drags me in.
And the title, "Clue," makes me think that the woman will be solving a case, somehow connected with the guy on the cover. So yeah, I think I'd probably take this off the shelf! I even know French (not fluently, but I've read French novels before), so I'm very interested in getting a copy!

Maybe the only thing I can suggest you is try to put the girl closer to the center of the page..you know, usually that' s the way to be sure to capture the reader's attention, but i think your cover works in anyway, 'cause the drawing is very good!

The cover is absolutely awesome and I'd definately buy it... that is if I hadn't been forced to quit taking french in grade 8 because of evil old math.

This looks great and whilst I'll certainly be buying in any case this cover would have caught my eye if I was in a store.
The only thing I would suggest is making the word 'clues' slightly darker (and I'm personally not a fan of the bevel).
