That's the plan, though they wont be as detailed as Black and white, just a few animations to stop them being so still.

Wow, so many comments already! The first thing I noticed is the thing that bugged me a lot when I was younger, even if it was stupid: The pokemon finally are further away. I always imagined the battles in my head and them being right opposite to each other seemed slightly stupid. I was a stupid kid, though, so to skip to the point I really like the distance between the both.
Then, I really like the background that doesn't just "stop" and fades out but has a horizon and Meritrot looks amazing.

I like it very much, detailed, but not too much to destract from the battle.... I always wondered, why they didn't make real backgrounds in the actual games... other than just floating strips of grass etc. Oo

looks beautiful! i think with pokemon 3ds games coming out, it's better to go in the other direction and make the game art charming and simple. remind us all of the simpler days of pokemon games! :3

Don't you think the bird's tail is not really correctly positioned? I mean, the whole positions is kinda awquard x_x And what about the bag option??

Ugh yeah I really need to remake that back sprite, but it was the only pokemon on my team that wasn't a fish LOL. The bag is outside the screen and you can leave it always open.

Ah, I really like it.
I've recently been getting Dew to take the same approach with my battle grounds. It's a lot better in the long run. I was stuck with just one battleground for about a year because of the style
