It was the break of night. The conditions were perfect for this young dragoness to learn her powers of shadow. Cynder watched as her mother stood before her in the moonlight.
"Are you ready Cyn?" asked Brella
Cynder did not speak, she only nodded. she watched as her mother called upon the power of shadow to morph into the ground. The shade looked scary the only hint that it belonged to her mother was the glowing ruby colored eyes.
The dragoness quivered as the shadow approached her. At first nothing happened. Then all of a sudden she felt a shadowy paw grab at her hind leg.
"AH!" Cynder cried out in terror "LEMME GO!" she began to fruitlessly struggle against the shade's grip
"Relax..."came a male voice, Cynder looked up to see her father standing over her. "The best way for you to learn your powers is to experience it directly first hand." his voice sounded serious. "for that to happen, you are going to be pulled down into the shadows."
"PULLED DOWN?!?" She exclaimed, her struggles continued
"Look" continued Vindicus "Your mother has you right now, she won't let anything bad happen to you"
She looked down at the creepy shade before her. she managed to look past that and see the face of her mother within. Cynder took a deep breath and calmed down.
"This is the last time you are going to be asked this" he said "Are you Ready?"
"Yes..." Spoke Cynder, voice mostly empty of nervousness. She shivered a little as her other hind leg was grabbed. then the shade began to slowly pull her under. first her legs and forearms and tail, then her body and wings were gone. The last thing she saw before the darkness claimed her vision was the reassuring face of her father.

You know? there wasn't any art with Cynder from my story, Something had to be done about that. The shadow learning lesson is a neat concept in theory.

keep in mind that the written work was created by me
but the visual artwork, I directed another artist sort of, as she willingly drew for me.
Cynder is afraid and not eager to learn 'her own element of shadow' so to say. And there is a reason behind it explained in my fanfiction. Go take a look at it if you haven't read it already.

originally the eye position was a little off, I had to tweak it a little bit, the artist had a power outage earlier and i think she was a littleΒ too frustrated to fix it.
