"Evenin'! Rowlf, Rowlf the Dog. I'm no Heifetz, but I get by."

My latest model is none other than the Muppet Show's resident piano-playing pooch, Rowlf the Dog. Whether he's tickling the ivories or punning his way through a Veterinarian's Hospital sketch, Rowlf's about as lovable as they come. I always liked how he would clasp his hands together and nod his head after finishing a piece at the piano, so I tried to capture some of that sincerity here.

Of course, I've made several Muppets over the years, but I've tended to lean more toward the Sesame Street cast thus far. I decided it was high time I make another classic character from the Muppet Show family. After Kermit, Rowlf is my favorite Muppet, so he was an obvious pick. Since Rowlf rarely appears as a full-body character, I actually referenced Cookie Monster more than Rowlf himself when figuring out how I wanted the lower half of his body to be shaped, as Rowlf and Cookie Monster share a similar design. To better capture the clumpy look of Rowlf's fur, I used brown sherpa fleece. It wasn't easy to find some the right color, but I think it looks just right!

Rowlf stands about 11.5" tall, and I couldn't be happier with out he turned out. Rowlf's ready to finish work, go home, read a book, have a couple of beers, take himself for a walk, and go to bed. Nice and simple!
