I decided to have another go at everyone's favorite little purple dragon. I was hesitant to make yet another Spyro, but I found myself with some unexpected free time and I really wanted to see how much farther I could push him. He's still largely based on Enter the Dragonfly's model, and I dialed in the proportions and likeness much closer than ever before. This time, though, I also blended in some details of the PS1 model and some of the promotional renders. So he's kind of a mixture of all my favorite things about how Spyro has appeared over the years!Related content

what is the main base part he is made of? is it those Styrofoam balls?

The body is made up of a couple of Styrofoam eggs. A larger one that makes up most of it, and then a smaller one glued on in the front, with some carving and shaping done to them to give them the right shape.

hmm interesting i have wanted to make a spyro sculpture other then my papercraft one I printed though im not too good at carving things but I might try it one day

It kind of looks like he has barnacles on himself, for some reason.... The effort's great, though...

Well maybe he *does* have barnacles on him! After all, starting with the second game, Spyro does demonstrate a certain proclivity for swimming!

He's deceivingly cuddly looking! He's actually made with styrofoam and pipcleaners, and then covered with felt. So he's actually quite rigid!

Now that you made a second one is the 1st one for sale? O: You know how much I wanted that one. XD ....Well and this one too because this is a big improvement but of course you will want to keep this one. XD

What type of foam do you use for this?

He's made with styrofoam, for the most part. Some parts of him have a pipecleaner skeleton to create specific shapes as well, and the whole thing is covered with felt.
