Description
I initially set out to do Eeveelutions because it's kind of just what every does, so I went at it with a kind of pandering idea in mind. Despite that, I think that these are some of my favorite Fakemon yet. In my region I've made in head I wanted to limit the number of different stones to evolve Pokémon with because if the game is supposed to be fast paced and put emphasis on replay liken most Roguelike games do, a whole mass of items that have really particular uses doesn't make a lot of sense. I wanted to narrow down the amount of stones down to 3 stones: Ancient Stone, Elemental Stone, and Fusion Stone. Elemental Stone would work similarly to all the older stones in Pokémon games but be a kind of catch all. If a Pokémon has an elemental evolution that requires a stone, then they use the Elemental Stone to evolve. The Ancient Stone will evolve things into a more primordial and aptly named "ancient" Pokémon of more story significance. The Fusion Stone will allow you to fuse to Pokémon together. As for the designs of these specific mons, I wanted to lean into the Will-o-Wisp and Yokai concept for Wispeon. At first I didn't want to do the whole skull idea because I thought it had been played out, but after a bunch of redraws I thought the skull concept looked too cool to scrap. I have a bunch of completely varied and weird Eldeon concepts in my sketchbook, all looking nothing alike. Some had antlers, some had a big horn on the head. I Settled on a mon that was half lizard/dragon scales plus a feathery soft half. I figured using the unique color pallet I ended with alone I could portray that it was a Dragon-type; I hope it all worked!
