Western Oklahoma-near Taloga, OK 5/11/2010

It's been a wild last couple of days...Oklahoma has had a fairly calm spring, until now. This is the second day of storm & cloud chasing. This particular evening was almost like chasing ghosts. Just right of center is an example of one of those "ghosts". This particular cloud plume was a rapidly building storm that disappeared almost as quickly as it formed. By the time I took this shot, this was probably the third that disintegrated along the dry line over western Oklahoma. However, the mass of clouds left of center had enough energy to build size and strength, and later produced a rotating wall cloud just west of Vici, OK. After I had stopped to take this picture, the armada of storm chasers, KFOR helicopter and caravan, and the guys from TornadoVideos.net (they were noticed by the red Dominator vehicle) sped by en route to intercept the developing storm.
