Description
Genesis 9:13-16West of Wheeler, TX - April 22, 2010
This is the sight I was able to see on the west side of the line of thunderstorms that were strung across the Texas Panhandle. This is a panoramic photo compromised of 6 vertical photographs, looking directly east towards Wheeler, TX. My buddy and I barely missed the brunt of this downpour and were able to get in the open sunshine side to catch the warm glow of the sun and the vibrant rainbow. Plenty of colors, sun rays, shadows, and highlights. As much as I like seeing the chaos in the clouds underneath the thunderstorm, being on this side of things always offers beautiful sight.

Wow. It's amazing seeing rainbows complete, unobstructed by anything.
I also love the sun's glow under the rainbow and how it just draws the eye towards the center of the picture even stronger.
Honestly man, looking through your pictures I want to live where you live. At least for a while (I'd miss the mountains and hills, but man... the skies)

This is amazing. I've never seen a complete bow (I've never been anywhere flat enough). The sun beams are an extra-special touch.

Thanks! It almost produced a double rainbow, which would have been sweet to capture. The open spaces definitely feels nice and free, but all the wind gets old quick!

Wow, I've only seen a full rainbow like this a couple of time in my life...too many obstructions. What a wonder of nature.

I love being close to open country! I don't know what I'd do with a lot of obstructions around!

Oh, I live fairly rurally myself. There are just more hills, and oak trees. The rainbows always seem to be just beyond the next hill.
I'm glad you are in open country also...I love your photographs of the region.

Wow! I've been wanting to do an HDR panorama of a rainbow for some time now. If it turns out anywhere near this cool, I'll be ecstatic
Great work!

The rainbow was a vibrant, full arc...I suspect my polarizer filter on my lens attributed to the left side of the rainbow fading out. I noticed while I was shooting with full sun at my back that the camera wasn't really catching that side too well. I tried once before to get a pano of a rainbow, but didn't have much success...this one, however, worked!

Indeed it did! I also like how crisp the anticrepuscular rays are, seemingly "converging" at the rainbow.
