Description
I was driving around Sunday evening and came across another Box Turtle crossing the road. This one is a little different than the first one I found([link] & [link] )...this one has red eyes and red on its scales, where the other one had yellow eyes and yellow on its scales. I had to be really patient with this series of pictures since I had to stop frequently to get out of the road for passing traffic. I'm sure I got many odd looks since I was laying on my stomach on the road!Here's a link to another variation, without a fill flash and different white balance: [link]

This picture reminds me when I was in a daycare program over the summer. My mom and I found a turtle near the road, and there was something pink on it's shell, like its shell was broken...

I like I like I like!!!! the way the white line dissapears into the background just highlights how far this little fellow has travelled.... and the way the white line is so large in perspective makes the turtle seem vunerable to me...

Box Turtles are amazing colorful creatures. **fun little fact red eyes are males and yellow or brown are the females.

my mom stopped in the street to get a turtle out of the road, and i rescued one out of a parking lot and back into a lake. These poor turtles obviously do not get the concept of cars.

Great pic, the turtle is quite charismatic and the way it simbolizes slowness against that white line blurring into the setting sun is really dramatic, I can imagine him crossing the road at his turtle pace against hundreds-of-miles-an-hour speeding cars the tension is excellent. Though ecologically sad.
