Description
More Terragen/Photoshop work. Most of my landscapes have a ... mm ... "warm" feel to them, as if they exist in the tropics and the warm sun beating down upon you can be felt even through the computer monitor. maybe even a hint of calypso wafting to you on the faint and salty wind...
This one's definately the opposite shore. You're all alone in these waters, a cloud-shrouded moon glowing with muffled silver light over the inky depths of cold, deep ocean. The sun seems to be hovering over another world completely, having forsaken you as you drift unknowingly into this harsh realm of black and white.
Oh, by the way, I rather like this picture.

How do you mean? For personal use is fine, commercial use would require more discussion however.

I love it. The lighting is perfect and the darkness of the water is chilling.

Thanks kermuch! I think this is one of my best, personally (though the one with the flying dragon is a close second imho.)

Hah I knew this was terragen when I saw it. Great use of Black and White. It's hard to do night scenes. You pulled it off rather well in this one

Terragen is an interesting tool.
Once you explain what it does, people tend to wave you off. "Oh, I didn't REALIZE that's ALL that you had to do. Pfft, I thought this was art or something."
The fun part is when you hand them the tool and tell them to make their own. It suddenly gets a lot harder to do.
(That, and pictures of this size take forever to render, so when you find a goof, you have to re-render... when I say "this took me six hours in terragen" I never include the four days of waiting for the thing to actually finish. Maybe I should get a faster computer?)

Yeah. Terragen can be a lot harder than it looks. As for render times...yeah...a faster computer does help. The fact that the little preview render always looks better than the big one doesn't help .
I found that if I'm ready to render, I'll do a small one at 640x480, and if that looks decent, I'll render it like 1600x1200 and then shrink it down.

By the by, I was poking through the comments people left on your work, dracmtt, and noticed the bit about World Machine.
I've just played with it a bit... reminds me of an old IBM game called Rocky's Boots, where you had to build logic operators together to get the computer to do what you wanted it to.
I think as far as art goes, though, I'll stick with terragen for a little bit yet. The tool you don't know always looks more fun, but you get better art with the tool you know.

hehehe. Yeah. It's good to keep with what you know. Can't get better if you're always moving to new things. But considering how lacking Terragen's terrain editor can be at times, World Machine is a nice tool to get otherwise unachievable terrains.

Very nice. I especially like the way the water looks.
