Yet another practice piece. I've been doing gaia comissions and wanted to relax with this. I haven't done work with markers in a while, so I got out some paper and just winged it. ...haha.Anyway, I'm not going to make any more changes to this... Crits and suggestions for future pieces are always welcomed though!
Time taken: too long for what it's worth 8|
Tools used: Prismacolor markers on a 9"x12" sheet of bristol. Micron pens were used to detail the face.

When I saw this I thought it was done in watercolor, but then I read the description and learned it's prismacolor marker. XD I can't believe how neat this is for marker, it's incredible! The detailing in the face and wings is fantastic. It really makes the viewer look at everything. The grass and mountains are drawn very well too.

It has something mythical about (and not just the griffin ^^), and I am amazed that this is possible with markers. Wonderful grass and feathers!

If you get the chance, I suggest checking out Borden and Riley's "Bleedproof" Marker paper, it works wonderfully and you can get more out of it than Bristol (it also doesn't suck markers dry like Bristol can).
You work wonderfully in markers, which can be quite a tricky medium and very unforgiving.

I'm quite happy to help (not an Art Ed major for nothing *grin*). The specific paper that I've used (they have a couple different types from what I remember) is the #234 Paris BleedProof Paper for Pens and is 108 lb paper, about the same weight as Bristol, but again, must more marker-friendly! My only caution with it is to do very light pencil work as applying it heavily to the paper can be a bit hard to erase.
I look forward to seeing some more marker work from you and interested to know what you think of the paper once you get a chance to use it!

The detail in this blows my mind, not the mention the colours. Dear god I love the feathers, the small feathering on the thighs and the larger ones on the chest and neck, the feathers on the wings of course... so detailed. And the face, ahhg, so incredible! And as I mentioned the colours, especially in the grass, are so beautiful and I love the texture in the rocks and mountains.

This is stunning. I love the detail in the feathers and the patterns on the hills. It's kind of mesmerizing. I can't believe you only used markers.
