well i plan on really just modernizing thier personalities, so just a more serious take on rita (as well as the other characters in my Power Rangers universe)
for the zords...i'm not sure but i want them to look like organic robots since they have an ancient mythological background.

I don't suppose the Bayformer movies would have any influence? They didn't exactly look like robots in the movies, but the look was emphasize their alien nature. For my take, I was mainly planning on having the Zords look like combinations of different Zords, so that they might look more alien.
The Dragonzord looked and acted a great deal like Godzilla, and also bore a resemblance to Mechagodzilla. Hence my take's connection between them; Mechagodzilla and the Dragonzord are one in the same.

yeah,the blocky look bugged me a bit lol the guy inside could barely move X)) but it was awesome design wise, it looked like a transformers(G1 version)

That it did. Power Rangers had a lot of things mixed into it. Martial art superheroes, transforming vehicles (Transformers), who could also combine (Voltron), to fight big monsters (Godzilla).
